Recently we have completed two bore well recharge systems in the urban area of Lonavala in Maharashtra. These photos show the construction of the ring system of bore well recharge which will utilise the roof top rainwater harvesting to collect the water and then channel it through the slits cut in the bore well shaft. The cement ring constructions around the bore well and on either side, hold the water so that it slowly enters the bore well and can percolate down to the aquifer. The water level in the aquifer will rise and these bore wells will supply a good quality potable water for all needs.

Our Story

Sankalpa Rural Development Society (SRDS) is working for "Enough water for all" a world where there is plenty of water for everyone.

The work they do is all about water. With water we can grow crops, with water we can cook food, with water we can stay hydrated, with water we can live. When water becomes polluted our health suffers. So many of us seem to have no idea that water is essential for our lives and our well being. We use the rivers as garbage disposal, drains are the place to dump whatever we feel like.

Water is finite - there is only so much water on our planet and more and more of it is becoming so dirty it is unusable. Its past time to wake up and care for this precious substance, this liquid which keeps us alive - imagine right now the feeling of cool fresh sweet water flowing down your throat. Now imagine that same water discoloured - muddy, toxic - but you have to drink it because there is nothing else.
