9 Homes 11 School Today, Howrah South Point is completely run by Indian administrators and social workers.

HOWRAH SERVICE TO THE POOR (HSP, formerly known as Howrah South Point), was founded in 1976 by a French Father, Father Francis Laborde ("The city of Joy") to help handicapped children from the slums and provide a medical support to the most deprived in Howrah, the industrial suburb of Calcutta. Over the years the association has responded to the various and urgent needs of the poor people from How

rah, Calcutta and the Northern part of West Bengal. Its activities are divided into 4 main programmes:

- Rehabilitation of the handicapped

- Health care

- Education for the deprived

- Housing for the poor

Besides those main projects, 4 other programmes are run to help the aged and destitute people, to respond to the S.O.S. calls of distressed populations of West Bengal during floods or cyclones, or to provide money to HSP. For HSP, those 45 years of existence have been a fruitful co-operation with local institutions, other NGO’s, government instances, foreign donors and many well wishers. We thank you in advance for your moral support, advices and donations that help us to continue to empower the most deprived and challenged children in West Bengal.

[PRESENTATION OF OUR SCHOOL]

Notre école de Shikarpur accueille chaque jour des enfants des familles travaillant dans les champs de thé. Situé en pleine campagne indienne, ces enfants sont souvent obligés d'accompagner leurs parents à la cueillette des feuilles de champ de thé à défaut d'aller à l'école...
Notre école les accueille pour les pousser à aller à l'école et à recevoir une vraie éducation pour leur futur.

Our school in Shikarpur welcomes children every day from families working in the tea fields. Situated deep in the Indian countryside, these children are often compelled to accompany their parents to pick tea leaves rather than attending school.
Our school welcomes them to encourage them to attend classes and receive a proper education for their future.

[JUBILE D'OR]

1,2,3... Partez !
Notre événement sportif pour le jubilé d'or a eu lieu la semaine dernière à Ashaneer à Howrah. Nous avons rassemblé plus de 600 enfants venant de nos foyers et de nos écoles pour ce grand tournoi sportif. La journée s'est débutée avec l'allumage de la flamme olympique ! Chaque jeune a pu se donner à fond pour ramener la coupe à la maison. Nos enfants en situation de handicap ont également pu participer avec des épreuves adaptées !

Our Golden Jubilee sports event took place last week in Ashaneer, Howrah. We brought together over 600 children from our homes and schools for this grand sports tournament. Every young person gave their all to bring the trophy home. Our children with disabilities were also able to participate with adapted events!

[HOMES PRESENTATION] #4

Voici notre foyer d'EPN qui accueille depuis 1981 une soixantaine d'enfants de 6 à 12 ans parlant Bengali ou Hindi. Ces enfants sont tous issus des milieux les plus précaires de la société indienne avec souvent des histoires familiales compliquées. Ils peuvent retrouver dans ce foyer une sérénité et une sécurité afin de grandir dans un environnement sain où ils peuvent s'épanouir grâce à de nombreux loisirs par exemple. Nous nous efforçons de prendre soin de ces enfants qui ont tant besoin d'amour pour grandir.

Notre cagnotte est toujours en cours !

This is our EPN children's home, which has been providing care since 1981 to approximately sixty children aged 6 to 12 who speak Bengali or Hindi. These children all come from the most disadvantaged backgrounds in Indian society and often have complicated family histories. In this home, they can find peace and security, allowing them to grow up in a healthy environment. We strive to take care of these children who so desperately need love to thrive.

Notre foyer de Jeevan Path situé à Jalpaiguri accueille huit adultes orphelins tous lourdement handicapé. Leur foyer n'est pas adapté pour leur vie quotidienne et nécessite des travaux ! Our Jeevan Path home in Jalpaiguri houses eight severely disabled orphaned adults. Their current home is not adapted to their daily needs and requires renovations!
