Nari-o-Sishu Kalyan Kendra is a women development organisation. We work together for the dignity and rights of women to create save and secure lives.
Nari-O Sishu-Kalyan Kendra was established under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act in the year 1979. Nari-O Sishu-Kalyan Kendra started its journey with a group of young enthusiastic women from Howrah who organized poor and marginalized women of the district to protect their interest towards sustainable livelihood during the devastating flood in year 1978. In 1985 NOSKK obtained the Forei
gn Contribution Registration from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of West Bengal. This long endeavour towards fulfilling the mission of NOSKK has been possible only with cooperation and contribution of many National and International Resource Sharing agencies, the State and National level Government as well as Non-Government institutions along with innumerable individual resource persons.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Nari O Sishu Kalyan Kendra celebrated the strength, resilience, and achievements of women. 💜🌸
To grace the occasion, Advocate Yasmin Khatoon from Howrah Court joined the program and shared valuable information on the Early Marriage Act, POCSO Act, trafficking, and the Domestic Violence Act. Her session helped raise awareness about women’s and children’s rights and the legal protections available to them.
The event was also attended by our President, Salema Jahan, and Secretary, Rahima Khatun, whose presence encouraged participants and highlighted the importance of collective efforts toward women’s empowerment.
A total of 88 participants joined the celebration, making the occasion meaningful and inspiring as we came together to recognize the power, contribution, and leadership of women in our communities.
We also organized a Poster Making Campaign, where 34 participants actively took part, expressing their thoughts and creativity on women’s rights, empowerment, and equality. 🎨✨

On 11th February, 2026 Hon’ble MLA of Uluberia, Mr. Bidesh Ranjan Bose (Former International Footballer), visited Taj Mahal Library, and Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra. He interacted with dignitaries persons of both organization, students, and community members. During the visit, PBSSD (Utkarsha Bangla) certificates in Garment Manufacturing and Data Entry Operator trades were distributed by Hon’ble MLA. Encouraging skill development and youth empowerment. The visit strengthened motivation and community engagement.

Celebrating the 50th Legal Awareness Camp observed on Bonded Labour System Abolition Day (9th February 2026), organised by District L egal service Authority(DLSA )Howrah in collaboration with Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra and supported by International Justice Mission.
Presence of Secretary, DLSA & SDLSC, ASI Bauria, advocates, PLVs, and 120 active participants made the programme impactful.

On 30th December 2025 at 2:00 PM, a Legal Support and Awareness Programme was held at Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra (NOSKK) in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Howrah, under the theme “Protect Today, Secure Tomorrow” – Environmental Legal Literacy and Community Protection. The programme covered key issues such as women and child rights, family law, marriage and divorce, property matters, environmental protection, and free legal aid services. Officials shared helpline details and provided preliminary legal guidance. The programme witnessed active participation from 115 women, adolescents, and youth. Certificates of PBSSD under Utkarsha Bangla for Tailoring and Computer courses and Vocational Training centre Certificate were distributed in the presence of the Secretary, DLSA, Howrah, and a Child-Friendly Corner was also inaugurated.

On September 12th, Nari O Sishu Kalyan Kendra (NOSKK) hosted a heartfelt farewell for Amalia, our incredible German volunteer. Over the past eight months, Amalia’s dedication and warmth have been an integral part of our journey here. Her creativity, hard work, and positive spirit have left a lasting impact on both students and staff.
Amalia shared her knowledge by teaching spoken English to our students and staff, and she also helped us strengthen our social media presence, documentation making her contributions even more far-reaching. Her tireless efforts and kind heart will truly be missed by everyone at NOSKK.
Although we will miss you dearly, Amalia, we are excited to see you begin this new chapter in your life and career. Thank you for everything you’ve done — your time here has been a gift, and we wish you nothing but success, happiness, and endless opportunities in the future.

On 11 September 2025, Nari O Sishu Kalyan Kendra and Tajmahal Gram Bikash Kendra came together at Khaskhamar to observe the 21st death anniversary of our Founder, Late Md. Moinuddin under the theme “Role of Civil Society in Communal Harmony.” 🤝

NOSKK participated in a powerful Stakeholders' Consultation on One Stop Centres (OSC), jointly organized by Aman WB Network and Sruti Disability Rights Centre on 29th August.
🤝 The dialogue brought together civil society, disability rights groups, legal experts, and OSC representatives to share experiences and challenges from the ground.
As coordinator of Howrah OSC, our Counsellor Hakima Khatun contributed to the discussion and reported on the current challenges she faces on the field.
Grateful to be part of such an inclusive and necessary conversation. 💜

On 28 May 2025, Noskk observed International Menstrual Hygiene Day with awareness program, promoting safe menstrual practices, health, and dignity. Our Vision: The vision of Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra is a self-reliant society based on human values like cooperation, participation, justice, respect and love. In this society people will participate in a decentralized political process, where the economy will be based on localized production and consumption. The environment will be free from pollution and exploitation; the people will sustain with their own indigenous socio-cultural identity. The envisioned society will be free from the forces of patriarchy and will be more peaceful and harmonious.
Our Mission: The Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra aims to unfold and empower the oppressed and marginalized people to make them self-reliant and confident. The main focus is laid on the socially, economically, politically and culturally vulnerable groups like women and children. Therefore, we work together to achieve the envisioned sustainable society.
Our goals:
To develop human potentiality and critical awareness of the vulnerable groups of people and motivate them towards their empowerment
To enhance the knowledge and skills of the referenced groups so they are able to strive for a sustainable development through process of participation
To create awareness for gender equality regarding health, education, environment and economic action as well as making them capable of carrying their development journey
Formation of Self-help Groups with the help of micro credits to create a secure base for the incoming generation among the vulnerable sections
