World scout badge to Moon

Neil Armstrong, an Eagle Scout and the Apollo 11 Mission Commander, carried a World Scout Badge to the moon and back on July 20, 1969, to honor the Scouting movement. This purple and white badge was personally certified by NASA as having traveled on the first lunar landing.

Key details regarding the World Scout Badge in space:

Authenticity: A signed letter from Neil Armstrong certifies the badge was on the surface of the Moon.

Significance: 11 of the 12 men who walked on the moon were Scouts, highlighting the connection between Scouting and exploration.

Current Status: The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) holds the badge in its collection.

Mission Context: During the 1969 mission, Armstrong also sent a message of good wishes to Scouts attending a national jamboree.
