Handwara Observes Black Day to Condemn Pehlgam Attack | United Voice of Grief and Protest
In response to the brutal Pehlgam attack, which shook the conscience of our people and claimed innocent lives, Handwara observed a complete Black Day as a mark of collective mourning and strong condemnation.
The call for the Black Day was jointly given by Advocate Mir Imran (General Secretary, Bar Association Handwara), and Social & Peace Activists Sheikh Jamsheed and Tauseef Ahmad War. The aim was to express unwavering solidarity with the victims and to raise a voice against such heinous acts of violence.
As a result, shops remained closed, transport was off the roads, legal work was suspended, and a silent protest was held across Handwara. The observance was peaceful yet powerful, reflecting the community’s deep sorrow and unity.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Bar Association Handwara, Trade Federation Handwara, Transport Association, local NGOs, civil society members, Islamic scholars, youth, and the common people of Handwara for responding to the call with such dignity and strength. Your presence made it clear that our society rejects all forms of violence and will always stand for justice, peace, and humanity.
This observance was not limited to Handwara alone voices of solidarity and protest echoed from across Kashmir, as people from all walks of life stood united in grief and resistance. Today, Kashmir showed that it is not silent in the face of oppression it speaks through unity, through dignity, and through peace.
Kashmir ka har zinda zameer aaj dukh mein shaamil tha.
