Heartiest Congratulations to Dr. Priya Giri!

The All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU), Dima Hasao District Committee and Haflong Regional Committee extend heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Priya Giri, daughter of Mr. Mitralal Giri and Mrs. Bina Giri, on successfully completing her MBBS from Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, including the mandatory one-year internship (2020–2026), after qualifying through NEET-UG 2020.

We are equally proud to congratulate her on her appointment in the Medical Department of Dima Hasao and her posting at Langting, Dima Hasao.

Heartiest Congratulations to Dr. Amit Kumar Pandey!

The All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU), Dima Hasao District Committee and Haflong Regional Committee extend heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Amit Kumar Pandey, son of Mr. Pitambar Pandey and Mrs. Laxmi Pandey of Upper Bagetar, Haflong, on earning the prestigious degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Department of Electronics Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad.

His doctoral research titled “Design and Analysis of SIW-Based Self-Diplexing Antennas for Internet of Things (IoT) Applications” is a remarkable achievement in the field of advanced electronics and communication technology.

Dr. Pandey's dedication, perseverance, and academic excellence have brought immense pride to the Gorkha community and the entire district of Dima Hasao. AAGSU Umrongso Regional Committee Meets NEEPCO Officials
The delegates of the AAGSU Umrongso Regional Committee met with the Head of Project (HOP), NEEPCO KHEP, Umrongso, to discuss various important issues concerning students and the local community. The discussion focused on matters related to student scholarships, employment opportunities, and developmental issues.
The delegation was led by AAGSU Umrongso Regional President Mohan Chetri and General Secretary Chandan Sharma, accompanied by Vice President Balaram Poudel and Office Secretary Anup Sharma.
AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee Executive Members Prem Joshi and Bishnu Upadhaya were also present during the meeting.
The delegation also met the HR Head of NEEPCO, Umrongso, and held a fruitful discussion on issues related to employment opportunities, student welfare, and regional development.
The team conveyed the concerns and aspirations of the local people and students, seeking greater cooperation and support from NEEPCO for the overall growth and development of the Umrongso area.

The 3rd Biennial Conference of the All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU), Mahur Regional Committee, was successfully held on 14 June 2026 at the Gorkha Community Hall, Jangali Basti, Mahur.
The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from delegates, members, community representatives, and distinguished guests. The programme commenced with a delegates' session, during which discussions were held on organisational matters, student welfare, and future initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of AAGSU within the community.

As part of the proceedings, elections were conducted for the formation of the new executive body of the Mahur Regional Committee. Following the democratic process, Sri Rajen Chetri was elected as the President, while Sri Binod Chetri was elected as the General Secretary, along with other newly elected office bearers.

The occasion was graced by several eminent personalities, including Sri Babul Kemprai, Hon'ble Chairman, Mahur Municipal Board, who attended as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests present included Sri Mon Bahadur Tamang, Vice-Chairman, Mahur Municipal Board; Smti Sheila Lyngdoh Lama, Headmistress of Step by Step School and noted social worker; Sri Vishal Sharma, Vice-President, AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee; Sri Bevakananda Joishi, General Secretary, AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee; Sri Ram Bahadur Tamang, Social Worker and former Vice-President of AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee; and Sri Yemlal Ghimire, prominent entrepreneur and Executive Member of AAGSU Dima Hasao District Committee.

The conference was also attended by Gorkha Village Gaon Buras, social workers, the President of AAGSU Haflong Regional Committee, the President of AAGSU Haflong Government College Unit, and several other respected dignitaries and well-wishers from the community.
The newly elected office bearers expressed their gratitude for the confidence reposed in them and reaffirmed their commitment to working diligently for the welfare and empowerment of students. They pledged to uphold the ideals and objectives of the organisation while promoting unity, leadership, and active participation among the youth.
The conference concluded on a positive note, with a renewed commitment towards safeguarding the interests of students, strengthening the organisational structure of AAGSU, and contributing meaningfully to the overall development and progress of the Gorkha community.

A fruitful discussion was held on various issues concerning the overall development, welfare, and upliftment of the Gorkha community residing in Dima Hasao.
