A Humble Appeal from the Lhari Nying P**k Conservation Committee
For Cleanliness, Respect, and Responsibility on the Holy Lhari Nying P**k Trail
On the sacred occasion of Saga Dawa, we, the Lhari Nying P**k Conservation Committee, with devotion, respect, and a sincere sense of responsibility towards our sacred land, began a three-day cleanliness program on 29th, 30th, and 31st May 2026 along the holy Lhari Nying P**k trail. During this initiative, plastic waste scattered throughout the trail and inside the resting sheds/bungalows was carefully cleaned as part of our effort to preserve the purity, beauty, and sanctity of this sacred place.
Our vision is to make Lhari Nying P**k a plastic-free, clean, and naturally preserved pilgrimage trail. We sincerely request all pilgrims and visitors to kindly carry back their own plastic and waste materials that they bring with them. Please do not throw or leave plastic items, bottles, cans, food packaging, or unwanted belongings anywhere along the trail, inside the resting sheds, or within this holy land. Let us all take responsibility for keeping this sacred place clean and pure for everyone.
As we wish to keep this sacred place natural in its original form, we also request everyone to respect the simplicity of the site. Lhari Nying P**k is a holy place whose beauty lies in its natural environment and spiritual atmosphere, not in excessive construction or unnecessary alteration. Let us protect and preserve its authentic character for future generations.
We also humbly appeal to all pilgrims to maintain cleanliness and discipline in the resting sheds and bungalows. After using utensils, kindly wash them properly, arrange them neatly, and keep the area clean and tidy. Maintaining cleanliness, order, and responsibility reflects discipline, respect, and the values we should uphold during a spiritual journey.
We would also like to make a sincere request regarding prayer flags. Please avoid hanging excessive prayer flags on trees. While offered with devotion, excessive tying of prayer flags can harm living trees and affect the natural environment. As seen along the trail, some trees have been negatively affected. Let us practice devotion in a way that also protects and respects nature.
Furthermore, we humbly request pilgrims not to leave holy texts (pecha) inside the cave or around the sacred site. Sacred texts deserve proper care and respectful preservation. Many texts left behind are now in poor condition, affected by moisture and fungus. If you have completed your reading or offering, please respectfully pass the holy texts to another practitioner or ensure they are kept in a proper and suitable place.
We would also like to request devotees not to offer khadas directly on the statue of Guru Rinpoche. Kindly place khadas in the designated side offering area arranged for this purpose. Offering with mindfulness and proper arrangement helps maintain the dignity, beauty, and cleanliness of the sacred space.
Likewise, when making offerings of coins or currency notes, we humbly request everyone to place them respectfully and properly in the designated place. Please avoid throwing money randomly or leaving it scattered around the sacred area, as this does not reflect the respectful spirit of offering and affects the beauty, cleanliness, and orderliness of the holy site.
This initiative also marked the beginning of our journey and T-shirt campaign towards protecting and preserving the sacred Lhari Nying P**k trail. We are grateful for the support, cooperation, and helping hands of everyone involved. We would be deeply encouraged and happy if more kind-hearted and responsible people join and support this meaningful effort in the future.
Together, let us walk with devotion, respect nature, maintain cleanliness, and preserve the sacred beauty, natural environment, and spiritual dignity of Lhari Nying P**k for future generations.
Please do share this message and help us spread awareness. Together, with collective effort and good intention, we can protect, preserve, and maintain the sacred Lhari Nying P**k trail for present and future generations.
