On 6 July 1976, Pragjyotish Gaonlia Bank, the first Regional Rural Bank in the State of Assam as well as in the entire North Eastern Region of the country, was established.

In the presence of the then Union Minister of State for Finance, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, and the then Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Sarat Chandra Singh, the Bank was inaugurated by a landless farmer, named Md. Nur Islam. This historic gesture truly reflected the social mandate and founding vision of the Regional Rural Banks to serve the rural and underprivileged sections of society and contribute to their economic empowerment.

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of RRBs in Assam, AGVBOA and AGVBEA have decided to organise a series of programmes.
As a part of these Golden Jubilee celebrations, a Blood Donation Camp was organised today at the Head Office of the Bank reflecting our collective commitment towards social responsibility, humanitarian service and the welfare of society.
