Our main objectives are:
1) Need assessment in the community.
2) Identify & address potential solution to community problems.
3) Implement social impact projects by educating and training community members. Every World Environment day we set out to plant saplings along village road sides and river banks. A river rejuvenation project was taken up along with the students of Jain University and Art o
f Living members in Bangalore in the year 2014. Project Green took a beautiful turn in the year 2019 when Dr Manya Nagaraja – a person who is known for his immense contribution to the environment decided to step in and help us expand our project not only in the state of Assam but also in the state of Karnataka. His team by the name of ‘Hasiru ratha’ plant, prune and take care of saplings from it’s initial planting stage to its stage of maturity. 2019 was also the year when Ms Kruthi Nagaraj raised funds to plant 529 saplings as a part of Isha foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Cauvery calling river rally. Project green is an ongoing initiative with growing number of participants. LET’S BEAT HUNGER (Food donation drive)

A list was prepared based on this information and one member from the family was intimated to come down to a venue. Due to an increase in support for this food donation drive, we held a second drive on the 27th June,21 and wish to keep it going. PROJECT THRATRA (Self Defense workshops)
‘PROJECT THRATRA’ was started in the year 2017 in Bangalore by Mr Annutri Kaushik and Ms Kruthi Nagaraj. The crime rates in terms of women abuse, harassment and molestation in the city had increased making both men and women uncomfortable to venture out. This is where our belief that self-defense and safety weapons such as pepper sprays and tasers were the only few things that would act as everybody’s safety companions. We collaborated with two institutions: BMS College of Architecture and BNMIT. The students were trained by Mr.Mahfuz Rahaman who is a pro MMA fighter, boxer and a karate black belt holder. He trained the students on the below mentioned things:
- Self-defense workshops and situational training for individuals
- Structured and systematic practice sessions in groups of 2
- Distribution and marketing of pepper sprays on both online and offline platforms
PROJECT SHANTHI (Yoga training)
“PROJECT SHANTHI” was started on the 21st of June, 2015 on the International Yoga day. Every year since then, we have organized Yoga awareness programs among the youth in areas of Kamrup (M) district. Various activities were conducted such as seminars on mental health, live demo of aasanas, meditation practices etc,. In the year 2021, apart from our regular activity, we decided to expand our Yoga awareness camps with the help of Ms Kruthi Nagaraj : a certified Yoga teacher. She conducted 3 distinct yoga activities using an online platform:
- 8 students took up the 108 surya namaskaras challenge for a period of 30 straight days.
- 20 students with zero awareness of yoga were taught meditation techniques individually for a duration of 1 hour.
- A group of 50 individuals were taught aasanas and meditation techniques for a period of 7 days. Each student received a certificate of completion from CARE. This is an ongoing initiative which is slowly increasing in popularity as more people are making better choices for their health and wellbeing. BEYOND CLASSROOM (Skill development)
“BEYOND CLASSROOM” was started in the year 2006 by Ms Reetamoni and Ms Sangeeta Gogoi to train students on skills outside of what is taught in a regular school curriculum. For the year 2016-17, a one-month Computer training program was conducted at Beltola, Guwahati. For the year 2017-18, to contribute to the solution of unemployment, the team organized programs for the women of the local community. A free bamboo and jute handicrafts’ production training program in Bihdia and Panara villages under Bihdia Jajikona Development Block, and electrical appliances repairing training program in Goreswar Town under Baksa District were provided. This was done with the main objective of helping the women become more self-sufficient with the right type of training. For the year 2018-19, 40 women and girls belonging to an underprivileged community from Beltola area ,Kamrup district were trained in the art of handloom weaving, embroidery and tailoring. Another group of 35 women and girls from a similar background from Panikhaiti area under Kamrup district were also trained with the similar art. For the year 2019-20, a one-month computer training program was conducted at Beltola, Guwahati. PROJECT SVASTH (Health check-up camps)
“PROJECT SVASTH” was started in the year 2005 with the idea that ‘prevention is better than cure’. Regular health check-ups help in identifying possible health conditions at an early age. Hence, we decided to work on various health issues of the community such as eradication of blindness, preventive full body health checkups, prevention and awareness about HIV and other communicable diseases for the poor people. One free health check-up was planned every year and it was conducted in areas like Nandanpur (Beltola), Puthimar (Saje Village), Kaskata village, etc in collaboration with their local Primary Health Care Centres. Lifesaving drugs were distributed to the patients at each health camp for free. PROJECT HOPE (Drugs de-addiction program)
“Project Hope” was started in the year 2016 by Ms Reetamoni Barbaruah Sharma and Ms Sangeeta Gogoi. Drug treatment is intended to help addicted individuals to stop compulsive drug seeking and use. Drug addiction is a complex process as it causes changes to the functions of the brain and also leads to behavioral changes. The lack of awareness in terms of the side effects of drugs addiction is what we believe is harmful for the growth of an individual. To make our society a drug and alcohol free one, widespread social awareness programs were conducted every year to take concrete steps. Various street plays were organized in Baihata Chariali town in the years 2018 and 2019 to create awareness. A drug de addiction camp was also organized in the same area by Dr Kartik Deka where 4 drug addicts and 4 alcoholics were successfully treated. YOUR RIGHTS IN YOUR HANDS (Legal awareness camp)
Sexual harassment in work places is among the most prevalent and among the least reported crime. Sexual harassment at workplace is neither new nor rare, yet it is not reported or even discussed amongst colleagues. Most women face sexual harassment in some form or the other. The silence around sexual harassment only helps to accentuate the problem and gives more courage to the culprit to harass more people at his/her workplace. To prevent and punish the occurrence of sexual harassment in offices, factories and other work places, ‘The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, prohibition and redressal) Act, 2013 was enacted by the Parliament. “YOUR RIGHTS IN YOUR HANDS” held programs to create awareness about sexual harassment. In the year 2016-17, the camp was held in Goneshguri Chariali, Guwahati where 105 people participated in the camp. The camp was attended by local police officers, senior advocates and women social workers. For the Financial year 2017-18, our team was very active in the fight against domestic violence. Till the year 2005, remedies available to the victim of domestic violence in the civil courts (divorce) and criminal courts (vide Secion 498A of the Indian Penal Code) were limited. There were no emergency reliefs available to the victim; the remedies that were available were linked to the matrimonial proceedings. In order to save the victims who were silently suffering all along, ‘The Prevention of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005’ was passed. Our team held 1 awareness program in West Jyotinagar, Guwahati where 70 people participated in the awareness program.
