Awareness on Legal Adoption

Every child deserves a safe, loving and secure future. Legal adoption protects children from exploitation, trafficking and unlawful practices while ensuring their rights and identity are safeguarded.

Adoption should always be carried out through the prescribed legal process and through CARA-recognised agencies. Say no to illegal, private or unregistered adoption practices.

Let us spread awareness and help protect children.

Please share this post so that this important information reaches more families and communities.

Learning from the Field: Exposure Visit to Chhattisgarh

Team members of Assam Child and Women’s Welfare Society (ACWWS) undertook an exposure visit to Chhattisgarh to learn about the work being carried out for children and communities at the grassroots level.

The visit provided the team with an opportunity to step into the field, interact with communities, observe the work closely and understand the different approaches being used to reach and support children.

The field experiences and interactions offered valuable insights into community-based work and gave the team new ideas to reflect upon and learn from. It was an opportunity to see how consistent engagement with communities can create meaningful support systems for children.

The team returned with valuable experiences, fresh perspectives and learnings that will contribute to strengthening and enriching ACWWS’s ongoing work for children and communities.

Learning from the field, sharing experiences and continuously finding better ways to serve children.

A Beautiful Day at Shishu Greh

Shishu Greh had the pleasure of welcoming the Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Kamrup Metro, along with the Protection Officer – Non-Institutional Care, Kamrup Metro, for a special sitting.

What made the visit truly special was the time they spent with our children. Beyond the formal sitting, there were smiles, little conversations, laughter and some beautiful moments together. The children enjoyed the warmth and attention, and it was lovely to see them so happy and comfortable.

Visits like these mean a lot to our children. Sometimes, a little time, a kind word and simply being there can make a big difference. ❤️

A day of work, warmth and beautiful memories at Shishu Greh. 🌸

Awareness Programme at Kahilipara

A meaningful awareness session was held with 17 Anganwadi Workers and Helpers at K.K.H. Nagar, Kahilipara, creating a space to share, learn and connect around the needs of children and families in the community.

The session introduced the work of Mon Ashaneer, Family Counselling Centre (FCC), and Shishu Greh. Mon Ashaneer shared about the support and rehabilitation services available for children with disabilities. The Family Counselling Centre spoke about counselling and support for children and families, while Shishu Greh shared information about the process of adoption.

It was a simple but important effort to ensure that those working closely with families at the community level are aware of the services available and can help connect children and families to the right support when they need it.

Awareness begins with sharing—and together, we can help make support more accessible to every child and family. 🌱

Strengthening Our Commitment to Child Protection

The Assam Child and Women’s Welfare Society (ACWWS) participated in the CareVerse Capacity Building Workshop – “Building India’s Trauma-Responsive Child Protection Workforce”, organised by the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in collaboration with Protsahan India Foundation, with Adarsha – Foundation for Child Empowerment as Outreach Partner.

Representing ACWWS were Ms. Chumki Bora, Superintendent, Ashaneer Home for Special Needs Children, and Ms. Anamika Das, Coordinator, Shishu Greh.

Held on 24–25 August 2026, the workshop was an enriching opportunity to learn, reflect and strengthen our understanding of trauma-responsive and child-centred care.

At ACWWS, we believe that every opportunity to learn makes us better equipped to protect, nurture and empower children. We remain committed to building safer, more compassionate and inclusive spaces where every child can heal, grow and thrive.

Learning. Growing. Strengthening child protection—together.

From Ashaneer to Dibrugarh University — A Journey of Dreams, Determination and Inclusion

A young girl with disability, nurtured with care and support at Ashaneer Home for Special Needs Children, run by the Assam Child and Women’s Welfare Society (ACWWS), has taken a remarkable step towards her dreams. She has successfully completed her Bachelor’s in Music with First Class and, on the strength of her merit, secured admission to the Master’s in Performing Arts at Dibrugarh University. She is now staying at Joymoti Chhatri Niwas, Dibrugarh University, continuing her education and pursuing her passion.

Her journey is more than an academic achievement. It is a reminder that with the right opportunities, support and encouragement, disability should never limit a person’s dreams. We hope her success inspires many more young people with disabilities and helps open doors for others like her to pursue higher education and build independent, fulfilling lives.

At ACWWS, we believe in creating an inclusive society where everyone gets the opportunity to learn, grow, contribute and shine. We will always be there to support her in every step of her journey.

On behalf of the entire Assam Child and Women’s Welfare Society, we wish her all the very best for her future. We are immensely proud of her. May she continue to dream, achieve and inspire many more. ❤️
