🌊 ASSAM FLOOD RELIEF 2026 | PHASE I – BACK TO LIFE
Consignment 2 | Children’s Relief Materials | Sibasagar
As part of SIG’s Phase I – “Back to Life” Flood Relief Initiative, we are pleased to document the dispatch and receipt of Consignment 2, delivered to IMA Sibasagar Branch, for distribution among children and families affected by the devastating Assam floods.
This consignment reflects a carefully coordinated effort by Soroptimist International Guwahati (SIG), in association with Sishu Bikash Kendra, Guwahati and Modern Crèche & Pre-School, to respond to the immediate needs of children during their journey back to normalcy.
📦 Consignment 2 comprises 7 cartons containing:
1. Baby food
2. Children’s toiletries – baby soaps, antibacterial & washing soaps, Dettol, toothbrushes and toothpaste
3. Children’s snacks – biscuits, instant noodles, mango juice and cakes
4. Children’s clothing – baby sets, girls’ clothing, T-shirts, shirts, shorts, pants and baby towels
5. Footwear – sandals and shoes
The relief materials were distributed among three key beneficiary groups:
1. Kaumudalaya, Sibasagar – the only shelter home in Sibasagar for specially-abled children, which was itself affected by the floods.
2. Flood-affected children of the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), Sibasagar Civil Hospital.
3. Flood-affected children attending the MCH OPD, Sibasagar Civil Hospital.
A special note of gratitude to the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Sibasagar Branch, and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Sibasagar, for their generous support and invaluable partnership in facilitating the receipt, coordination and distribution of the relief materials.
The consignment was formally received by Dr. Sumangal Saikia, Treasurer, IMA Sibasagar Branch, on behalf of the IMA Flood Relief Operations. Dr. Anjana Sarmah-Secretary, IMA Sibasagar Branch, and Dr. Malabika Barua - Member, IMA Sibasagar Branch, were in the forefront coordinating and facilitating the distribution.
Their willingness to stand alongside the relief effort and leverage their professional and community networks has been instrumental in ensuring last-mile delivery of this consignment to the targeted beneficiaries, identified through their PDNA (Post-Disaster Needs Assessment). SIG deeply appreciates and gratefully acknowledges their support, cooperation and steadfast commitment to the cause. 🙏
The accompanying receipts and labelling are part of our effort to maintain transparency, accountability and traceability throughout the relief process.
