Mega Plantation Drive Marks World Environment Day at Chepnapara
Chepnapara, Baksa, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society (MMES) organized a Mega Plantation Drive at the degraded forest areas of Chepnapara under the Salbari Range of the Baksa Forest Division.
The plantation programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 250 people, representing various government agencies, community organizations, and local institutions. Participants included personnel from SSB 27 Battalion, Baksa Police, Salbari Forestry Range, All Bodo Raiders Association, CKAC/ABSU, Everest Sports Club,Jalah Unit NCC,Rain Forest,and the Chepnapara Forest Rights Committee (FRC).
The initiative was undertaken with the objective of restoring degraded forest land, enhancing green cover, and creating awareness about environmental conservation. Volunteers planted a large number of saplings and pledged to support the long-term protection and maintenance of the plantation site.
Speaking on the occasion, MMES representatives emphasized that community participation is essential for forest restoration and biodiversity conservation. They expressed gratitude to all participating organizations and local residents for their active support in making the programme a grand success.

North Khamardwisa, June 2, 2026:
The Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society (MMES) today organized a Ranjit Sub-1 paddy seed distribution program funded by UNDP
at North Khamardwisa under Khamardwisa VCDC with the objective of enhancing paddy seed production in the fringe areas of Bhuyanpara Range of Manas.
The program was undertaken to support local cultivators by providing quality paddy seeds and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Through this initiative, MMES aims to increase agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, and improve the livelihoods of farming communities living in the fringe areas of Manas.
Speaking on the occasion, MMES representatives highlighted the importance of adopting improved seed varieties such as Ranjit Sub-1, which can contribute to better crop yields and resilience against adverse climatic conditions. The organization emphasized that strengthening agriculture is a key step toward achieving long-term socio-economic upliftment of rural communities surrounding the Manas landscape.

MMES Organizes Ranjit Sub-1 Paddy Seed Distribution Program at Tebormur Village with the objective of enhancing agricultural production and promoting sustainable socio-economic development among cultivators living in the fringe areas of the Manas Tiger Reserve Forest.

The program aimed to support local farmers by providing quality Ranjit Sub-1 paddy seeds, a high-yielding and flood-tolerant variety known for its potential to improve crop productivity. The initiative is part of MMES's continued efforts to strengthen rural livelihoods and encourage sustainable agricultural practices in communities surrounding the Manas landscape.

Mrs. Renu Daimary, Chairperson of Khamardwisa VCDC, attended the event as the Guest and distributed the paddy seeds among the beneficiary farmers. Addressing the gathering, she appreciated the efforts of MMES in supporting the farming community and emphasized the importance of improved agricultural practices in ensuring food security and economic development.

Local cultivators expressed their gratitude for the assistance, noting that access to quality seeds would help increase their harvests and improve household incomes. MMES Participates in Fit India Cycle Rally Along Indo-Bhutan Border
Daodhara, 24 May 2026:
MMES proudly participated in a 7 km Cycle Rally organized by the 27 Bn SSB under the Government of India’s Fit India Initiative on 24th May 2026. The rally was conducted along NH-152/A, starting from Daodhara SSB Check Post and concluding at Nganglam Check Post in Bhutan.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from MMES members, Koklabari Forest Staff, and students of Daodhara ME School. The rally aimed to promote physical fitness, healthy living, environmental awareness, and unity among the participants.
Officials of the 27 Bn SSB appreciated the active involvement of local organizations, forest personnel, and students in making the event successful. Participants expressed happiness in joining the rally and supporting the national mission of fitness and public awareness.
The event also strengthened coordination and community participation along the Indo-Bhutan border region while encouraging youth to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.

MMES Extends Financial Assistance to Wild Elephant Attack Victim in Garumara

Garumara, June 3, 2026: The Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society (MMES) today extended financial assistance to the family of Sri Madoram Boro (49), a resident of Garumara village, a fringe village of Manas National Park. The assistance was handed over in the presence of the Koklabari Beat Officer and other forest personnel.

Sri Boro was seriously injured in a wild elephant attack while guarding his paddy field outside the boundary of Manas National Park at around 2:30 a.m. on May 20, 2026. The incident occurred in Garumara village when an elephant ventured into the agricultural area. During the attack, he sustained severe injuries, including fractures to his left arm and right leg.

Expressing concern over the incident, MMES representatives visited the affected family and provided financial support to help meet immediate medical and rehabilitation expenses. The organization also conveyed its wishes for Sri Boro's speedy recovery.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, MMES emphasized the importance of supporting communities living in the fringe areas of Manas National Park, where human-wildlife conflict remains a significant challenge. Forest officials present at the event appreciated the initiative and reiterated the need for continued cooperation among local communities, conservation organizations, and the Forest Department to mitigate such conflicts.

The assistance reflects MMES's ongoing commitment to promoting wildlife conservation while supporting the welfare and livelihoods of communities living alongside the rich biodiversity of the Manas landscape.

MMES Participates as Resource Person in Endangered Species Conservation Workshop
On the occasion of Endangered Species Day, observed on the third Friday of May 2026, MMES was happy to participate as a resource person in the “Endangered Species Conservation Workshop of Assam.” The programme was organized by the Kaziranga Wildlife Society in collaboration with Cotton University at the Institute of Engineers Hall (India), Panbazar, Guwahati.
The workshop brought together conservationists, academicians, and students to discuss the importance of protecting endangered wildlife species and strengthening conservation awareness in Assam. A total of seven expert speakers delivered insightful presentations on biodiversity conservation, wildlife protection, and the role of youth in safeguarding nature.
Around 135 students from Assam Don Bosco University, Cotton University, The Assam Royal Global University, Gauhati University, and University of Science and Technology Meghalaya actively participated in the programme.
MMES expressed gratitude to the organizers for providing the opportunity to share knowledge and interact with students and conservation enthusiasts on such an important occasion dedicated to endangered species conservation.

16,000 Saplings Planted in Mass Plantation Drive at Chepnapara and Golagaon

Baksa, May 12, 2026: A large-scale plantation drive was successfully conducted at Chepnapara NC and Golagaon NC under the joint initiative of Manas Souchkhongkor Tourism and Ecotourism Society (MSKTES) and Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society (MMES) in collaboration with the Baksa Forest Division.

A total of 16,000 saplings were planted during the program with the active participation of around 250 people. Volunteers from the Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) and local village communities enthusiastically joined the plantation drive, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and ecological restoration.

The event was conducted in the presence of the Range Officers of Batabari and Bhuyanpara, who encouraged participants to continue supporting afforestation efforts and the protection of natural resources. Community members, forest officials, and volunteers worked together to plant a variety of saplings aimed at enhancing green cover and strengthening the ecological health of the area.

Speaking on the occasion, organizers highlighted the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change, conserving biodiversity, and improving the environment for future generations. Batabari, May 12, 2026: A paddy seedling distribution program was successfully organized by the Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society (MMES) at Chepnapara Bathou Mandir, Batabari RF, under the UNDP OP7 project with the objective of enhancing paddy production in the fringe villages of Manas.
The program witnessed the participation of distinguished guests, including the Range Officer of Batabari Range, who joined the event and distributed paddy seedlings among the beneficiaries. A total of 50 beneficiaries from the surrounding fringe villages received the seedlings during the program.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted the importance of sustainable agriculture and community participation in improving rural livelihoods around the Manas landscape. The initiative aims to support local farmers by encouraging improved paddy cultivation and strengthening food security in the region.
