🎉 Celebrating NEET Foundation Day 🎉

NEET Foundation Day was celebrated with the enthusiastic participation of 24 children, who showcased their talents through dance, drama, read-aloud sessions, and poem recitation. The celebration brought together 17 parents and teachers to witness and appreciate the children's creativity, efforts, and learning.

More than a celebration, the day reflected NEET's commitment to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every child gets the opportunity to express themselves, build confidence, explore their interests, and discover their potential.

With the continued support of parents, teachers, and the community, we look forward to creating more opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive.

Here's to many more years of learning together and growing togetherđź’›

Today, two team members from North East Educational Trust (NEET), Jayashree and Supriya, participated in a one-day Interactive Master Class on Menstrual Health and Hygiene, organised by Roots to Branches Foundation in collaboration with RNisarg.

The session provided an opportunity to learn, interact, and explore ways to address myths, stigma, and challenges surrounding menstrual health and hygiene within communities.

Such learning opportunities are an important step towards promoting awareness, breaking stigma, and encouraging open and informed conversations about menstrual health and hygiene.

📚 Strengthening Classroom Learning through the Volunteer Teacher Forum (VTF)

The 2nd Volunteer Teacher Forum (VTF) Meeting under NEET’s Language Learning Programme was held on 10 October 2026 at Anubhav Learning Center, bringing together 10 teachers from 6 schools for collaborative learning, reflection and experience-sharing.

The meeting focused on the use of Learning Corners in schools, exploring their activities and discussing the challenges teachers face in their classrooms.

The session included an introductory activity, Learning Corner discussions, book browsing and a picture-reading demonstration by Krishna Devi from Dharikati Mising MES.

One of the key challenges that emerged in the discussion was the difficulty many children face in speaking Assamese, as they come from diverse linguistic backgrounds, including Nepali, Garo, Mising and Bodo communities. The discussion highlighted the importance of creating inclusive, engaging and language-supportive classroom environments where children can participate confidently in the learning process.

The VTF provides a platform for teachers to share experiences, learn from one another and collectively explore ways to strengthen classroom practices. The meeting concluded with a sharing session, and the next VTF meeting is scheduled for December 2026.

At NEET, we believe that when teachers learn together, classrooms grow stronger. 🌱

Three days of learning, reflection and creativity come to a close today.

As we reach the final day of the Language Practices Workshop, organised by North East Educational Trust (NEET) and facilitated by the team from Muskaan, we look back at three days filled with meaningful discussions and hands-on experiences.

From oral language and contextual reading to creative writing, illustration, rhymes and book-making, the workshop encouraged participants to explore how children learn, express themselves and make meaning through language.

A huge thanks to Shivani Taneja and Megha Charmode for facilitating this wonderful workshop and making the learning journey so engaging, thoughtful and enriching.

NEET’s Founder & Managing Trustee, Risha Borooah, took part in a panel discussion on “Functional Library in Primary School – Rise of a Reading Generation.”

The discussion brought together diverse perspectives on the importance of making school libraries functional, accessible and engaging spaces that encourage children to develop a strong culture of reading.

Drawing from NEET’s experience of working with government schools and communities, Risha Borooah highlighted the importance of making libraries active learning spaces where children can read, explore, imagine and express themselves, while nurturing critical thinking and creative expression.

The conversation also reflected on the role of teachers, appropriate reading resources and regular engagement with books in helping children build meaningful and lasting reading habits.

NEET is grateful to be part of this important conversation towards strengthening reading, learning and creative expression among children.

What does it really feel like to learn a new language and what can we do to make that journey easier for children?

Day 2 of the Language Practices Workshop, organised by North East Educational Trust (NEET) and facilitated by resource persons from Muskaan, brought these questions to life through reflection, discussion, and hands-on activities.

Participants explored contextual reading, written language, and the challenges of learning a new language, while a film on first-language reading and writing at the grassroots level offered real-life perspectives.

The day ended with practical activities on contextual text creation, reading aloud, and creative writing.

The learning continues—turning reflection into practice and creating richer language-learning experiences for children.

Let’s continue to learn, reflect and create spaces where every child’s language is valued and heard.

What happens when we pause, listen, and look closely at the many ways children use language?

Day 1 of the Language Practices Workshop, organised by North East Educational Trust (NEET) and facilitated by resource persons from Muskaan, opened up a space for curiosity, reflection, and learning around oral language.

Through hands-on experiences and engaging discussions, participants explored the components of language learning, how children learn languages, and the important role language plays in their everyday lives. The session included picture-book readings, interactive activities, reflections on personal experiences, and conversations around how we use language in different situations.

The day encouraged participants to look at language from a child’s perspective—how children use language, make meaning from it, and make sense of the world around them.
