Flood Relief Appeal | Sivasagar

The flood situation in different parts of Assam has left many families struggling for even the most basic necessities. We are trying to do our part in Sivasagar by collaborating with the local youth, Sayanika Chetia, Martina Borah, and their team, who have been working tirelessly on the ground, reaching affected areas and providing immediate relief.

At this moment, they urgently need:

• Drinking water
• Diapers
• Sanitary pads
• Candles
• Mosquito repellents
• Mosquito nets
• Tarpaulins (Tirpal)
• Clothes
• Animal food
• Generic Medicine
• Bleaching Powder
• Phenyl

• Drop any of the above items at our office, and we will ensure they are dispatched to the affected areas within 24 hours.

Plastic free July campaign takes place in July because in June 2011, founder Rebecca Prince-Ruiz visited a local recycling sorting facility, where she felt overwhelmed seeing volume of waste being generated and the immense challenges involved in recycling it.

She challenged herself and her family to completely avoid single-use plastics for the next month, being determined to alter her own consumption patterns.
What started out as a personal commitment for those 31 days in July 2011 unintentionally gave rise to the alliterative term Plastic Free July, which stuck as the movement rapidly scaled into a massive global phenomenon.

It's like a reminder for us to start a plastic free habit, reduce use of single-use plastic and waste.
