Guwahati, 2 August 2026: The North East Pharmaceutical Society (NEPS) has welcomed the prompt response of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to its memorandum seeking strict enforcement of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Pharmacy Act, 1948 following reported violations in the State.
At a meeting chaired by Hon’ble Health & Family Welfare Minister Shri Biyuram Wahge with representatives of the Arunachal Unemployed Registered Pharmacists’ Association (AURPA), the Government informed that an executive order has already been issued directing immediate verification of compliance with Sections 32(2) and 42(1), with reports to be submitted by 14 August 2026.
The Government also assured action on key issues, including recruitment of registered pharmacists and drug control personnel, priority examination of clinical pharmacist posts, operationalization of the State Drug Testing Laboratory, and strict enforcement of mandatory registration of Government-employed pharmacists with the Arunachal Pradesh Pharmacy Council.
NEPS appreciates the positive and time-bound approach adopted by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and expresses confidence that these measures will strengthen regulatory compliance, safeguard public health, and uphold professional pharmacy practice in the State. The Society reiterates its commitment to extend all possible technical and professional support for effective implementation of the statutory provisions.
