The Progressive People's Foundation (PPF), Guwahati, organised a plantation drive under its *PPF GO GREEN PLANTATION PROGRAM* at Silchar Cancer Centre (SCC), SMCH Campus, on 21 May 2026. During the programme, 50 environment-friendly saplings of Neem and Eucalyptus were planted.
Representing PPF on the occasion were Farid Uddin Choudhury, Member, Cachar District Committee, PPF; Adv. Kamal Hussain Chowdhury, Member, Hailakandi District Committee, PPF (also representing Rotary Club, Hailakandi); and Pinak Chakravarthy, Chairman, Health Preventive.
The programme was attended by Dr. Biswajit Ghosh, MS, SCC (Superintendent); Dr. Phulkumari Talukdar, Senior Radiation Oncologist; Dr. Indranil Sinha, Senior Nuclear Medicine Consultant; Dr. Piyal Nag, Interventional Radiologist; Dr. Saumendra Bhattacharya, In-charge, Blood Centre, SCC; and Shri Abhijit Bhattacharya, Zonal Coordinator, SCC.
The Silchar Cancer Centre authorities assured that the planted saplings would be properly monitored and cared for to ensure their healthy growth.
PPF has been actively undertaking plantation activities with a target of planting at least 1,000 saplings annually under its PPF GO GREEN PLANTATION PROGRAM since 2024. The Foundation believes that such initiatives will make a meaningful contribution toward environmental protection and sustainability.
PPF sincerely appreciates the continued support extended by the Cachar Forests Division, support from Rotary Club Hailakandi and Silchar Cancer Center in today's initiative and appeals to all sections of society to join the mission of PPF for a greener and healthier environment.
