Kaziranga is not just a national park—it is our pride, our identity, and an irreplaceable lifeline for thousands of wild species. The proposed uniform reduction of its Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) from the default 10 km to a mere 1–3 km poses a severe threat to this fragile landscape.
During the annual floods, wildlife must migrate across the highway to the safety of the Karbi Anglong hills. A blanket shrinkage of the buffer risks opening critical corridors and hill catchments to reckless commercialization, mega-projects and mining—permanently severing the animals' survival routes.
Development and conservation do not have to be at war. While genuine civic needs of nearby towns should be addressed with flexible local provisions, the vital wildlife corridors and southern foothills demand uncompromising protection with a wide, robust buffer.
Let’s demand a science-backed, landscape-level plan—not arbitrary cuts.
🦏 SAVE KAZIRANGA, SAVE OUR PRIDE.
