🎗️ RCDS CAN Care – A Successful Step Towards Early Detection 💜

Rotary Club of Delhi South successfully conducted the RCDS CAN Care – Cancer Detection & Health Screening Camp at Gyan Bharti School, Saket, in association with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and the Delhi State Chapter, Association of Surgeons of India (ASI).

The response was extremely encouraging, reflecting the importance of preventive healthcare and early detection.

🔬 Camp Impact:
• 500+ Laboratory Tests
• 280 Medical Consultations
• 30 FibroScans
• 25 Uroflowmetry Tests
• 17 Mammography Scans

A multidisciplinary team provided consultations in Surgical Oncology, Gastroenterology, Urology, Dental Care, Orthopaedics, Diet & Nutrition, along with cancer-prevention awareness and screening.

We are grateful to our dedicated medical team — Dr Deepika Gupta – Surgical Oncology; Dr Shivam Khare – Gastroenterology; Dr Ankit Tyagi – Urology; Dr Amrit Singh – Dental; Dr Tathagath Tiwari – Orthopaedics; Ms Rachna Parashar – Dietitian & Nutritionist; and Dr Jerry Agarwal – Dietitian & Nutritionist — for their valuable contribution.

We sincerely acknowledge the support and collaboration of the Delhi State Chapter, Association of Surgeons of India, led by Dr Subash Gupta – President and Dr Anmol Ahuja – Secretary.

❤️ SHE WAS ONLY 8 WEEKS OLD. BUT SHE WAS ALREADY FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE.

This 8 weeks Little angel from Saharanpur was born with a severe congenital heart condition. Her heart was struggling, her breathing had deteriorated, and she had to be placed on ventilator support.

Doctors at Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi, advised urgent cardiac surgery. The cost was an impossible burden for her farmer father, whose family depended on a modest monthly income.

But Her story changed when Rotary stepped in. ❤️

Through the Gift of Life programme of Rotary Club of Delhi South (RCDS), and with our Global Grant partnership GG2688418 with Rotary Club of Millbrae, RCDS contributed half the cost of her life-saving treatment.

On 14 September 2026, she underwent her critical cardiac surgery under the care of Dr. (Prof.) Raja Joshi and his team.

And just three days later, came the moment that made every effort worthwhile.

On 17 September, little angel went home.
Stable. Breathing comfortably on her own. And with a second chance at life. 💗

This is what Service Above Self looks like.

It is a reminder that when Rotarians join hands—across clubs, across countries and across communities—a child’s life can change forever.

Eye Camp at RCDS–Sankalp Munirka Centre: Seeing Better, Learning Better! 👁️✨
The Rotary Club of Delhi South, in collaboration with Sankalp and Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital and Sankalp, successfully organized a comprehensive eye screening camp for the children at the RCDS–Sankalp Munirka Centre.

Healthy vision is essential to every child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive. To support their bright futures, medical specialists from Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital conducted systematic vision check-ups for students across various age groups.
Organized by Rtn. Sumit Makhija (Literacy Chair) with Rtn. Kriti Makhija (Hony Secretary) representing RCDS, the initiative was made possible through the incredible dedication of Sankalp’s Chief Functionary Anupriya Chadha, the warm and patient Sankalp teaching team, and our volunteer Rotarians.

To wrap up the camp on a joyous note, all the children received refreshing treats sponsored by Sumit and Kriti Makhija—including chips, coconut water, Frooti, and muffins—after completing their check-ups. Seeing their big smiles and eager faces made the initiative truly special.

Together, we are ensuring our children see a clearer, brighter tomorrow! 💙📚

Saving Little Hearts, Transforming Futures with $1.2 million Global Grant! ❤️✨
We are thrilled to announce a historic milestone 🎉

For the second consecutive year, RCDS is proud to collaborate with our lead host club, Rotary Club of Bombay Airport (Dist. 3141), alongside Rotary Club of Berlin International (Dist. 1940), Rotary Club of Mumbai North Island (Dist. 3141), Rotary Club of Bombay Bay View (Dist. 3141), and our district partners on Global Grant GG2799333: GIFT OF LIFE - PAEDIATRIC HEART SURGERIES.

With a total grant funding of US$ 1,217,200 (~₹11.68 Crore), this life-changing project will provide free open-heart surgeries and cardiac interventions for around 775 to 825 children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) from economically underprivileged families.

Surgeries and cardiac care will be conducted at:
🏥 Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Child Heart Care, Palwal (Haryana)
🏥 Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Child Heart Care, Kharghar (Navi Mumbai)

None of this would be possible without AKS Nitin Mehta Ji's visionary leadership in driving this project and growing it year after year for the last 6 years.

Together for a healthier, safer future! 💉✨

On September 11, 2026, we successfully administered the second dose of the cervical cancer vaccine to 92 girls at GSS School in Sihi Village, Faridabad.

GSS School serves underprivileged students, charging a nominal fee of just ₹40 a month—an amount that still poses a significant hurdle for many families.

Completing this two-dose vaccination drive ensures these young women are now fully protected against HPV and safeguarded against cervical cancer.

As a wonderful token of appreciation, the students put up a beautiful Rajasthani dance performance for our visiting team, making the day even more memorable! 💃🎶

🌟 PROJECT SAKSHAM | Moving From Dependency to Independence 🌟

Today marked a deeply meaningful beginning as the Rotary Club of Delhi South, in joint partnership with Rotary Club Delhi Purple, successfully conducted the inaugural camp @ Project SAKSHAM at the Association for the Welfare of the Handicapped, Faridabad!

Conceived and led by Dr. Sheetal Dhawan, Project SAKSHAM aims to bridge systemic gaps for specially-abled individuals by mapping needs, overcoming documentation barriers, and unlocking access to 87+ Government welfare schemes.

✨ Impact Highlights from Day 1
127 Specially-Abled Children & Families participated in the registration camp.

First Step to Inclusion: Document verification and scrutiny were completed to pave the way for formal disability certification, Government benefits, educational support, counseling, and assistive devices.

Long-Term Vision: Transforming systemic friction into true social inclusion, targeting 100+ beneficiaries over 12 months with zero financial barriers—fueled purely by volunteer dedication.

📚 World Literacy Day | Rotary Club of Delhi South

Literacy is the foundation of a safer, empowered and more prosperous India. 🇮🇳

At Rotary Club of Delhi South, our commitment goes beyond classrooms. From RCDS-Sankalp Schools, supporting the holistic development of 500+ children, to vocational initiatives at Nai Disha, Arya Samaj Vasant Vihar and Noida Training Centre, we work to create opportunities that last a lifetime for another 500+ beneficiaries.

Our commitment also extends to infrastructure development, including projects at Gurukul and our most recent initiative at MCD Boys School, Malaviya Nagar.

And literacy is not only a club initiative—it is a shared commitment. Our members personally support educational institutions with books, notebooks, shoes, stationery, computers, scholarships and food, helping children stay in school and learn with dignity.

Through Interact and Rotaract, we are also building a culture of giving—encouraging young people to develop the skills to serve and give back to society, through initiatives spanning health & hygiene, mentorship and community service.

🌟 A Moment of Immense Pride and Gratitude! 🌟
When one of our own leads with such unwavering dedication, it isn't just an achievement—it is a testament to the true spirit of "Service Above Self."

We are deeply humbled and overjoyed to share that our leading light and guiding force, PDG Deepak Kapur, has been invited by PRIP Jennifer Jones (Chair, The Rotary Foundation) to take on a vital new responsibility as Mentor of the India National PolioPlus Advisory Council (effective July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027).

Reflecting on this milestone, PDG Deepak shares:
“When RI appointed me as Chair of Rotary’s India National PolioPlus Committee in 2001, it was meant to be a three-year assignment. What followed was a decade of intense battles against resurgence and virus outbreaks until India was finally declared Polio-free in 2014. As I step into this role of Mentor, the mandate remains clear—to keep the virus at bay until the entire world is completely free of Polio."

For over two decades, Polio eradication in India has been synonymous with PDG Deepak Kapur. His journey as Chair from 2001 through June 2026 was a relentless odyssey of faith, tenacity, and extraordinary vision. From navigating complex outbreaks to witnessing India being declared Polio-free in March 2014, his leadership remained steadfast, and to all of us, his crusade remains an inspirational legacy of resilience.
