We, living in high rises and cities are so busy with our lives that the needs of the ones who serve us are often overlooked. As rightly said by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children”. It hurts to see children of drivers, cleaners and domestic help deprived of their fundamental right, the right to education. While their parent
s get busy helping the residents live their daily lives comfortably, these children roam around unattended in the parks, roads and vile away their time. Thus Society welfare school (SWS) was initiated in July 2016 with the intent of providing education to these children. The idea is to enable them to read, write, to enhance their skill set and to prepare them to take on the challenges that lie ahead of them. SWS aims to impart basic education with an intent to unlock the door of freedom and to act as a bridge to secure admission in schools through the economically weaker society (EWS) quota. SWS - Fresco started with 16 children in the Fresco Park area with the help of residents who generously donated books, educational toys and aids. Today, in less than a month of its inception, SWS has grown to 44 children. SWS – Fresco has overcome the initial hiccups and has started to take shape with the appointment of One Full time Teacher and three resident volunteers for teaching. Apart from getting them school ready, SWS also tries to give exposure to these children in other disciplines like Music, Dance and Art with the help of our specialist resident volunteers. SWS is ever grateful to all the residents who have helped in so many ways to keep this initiative going and a bigger thank you to all the resident volunteers who take out time from their busy schedules to make a big difference to the lives of these small children.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

With hopes in our hearts, dreams in our eyes we stride ahead.
