What does it really take for a school to survive in the mountains?

In the frontier regions where we work, education is not just about classrooms or textbooks. It’s about navigating harsh terrain, retaining teachers, and building systems that can withstand isolation and migration.

This is the reality our Co-Founder, Sandeep Sahu, will be speaking about at the Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP)’s Public Policy Conversations: Northeast.

A conversation on what works, what fails, and what it truly takes to build resilient education systems in some of India’s most remote regions.

17000ft Foundation conducted an orientation of the Grade I & II FLN Curriculum in Kargil (23rd - 28th March 2026), which focused on strengthening Foundational Literacy & Numeracy. Teachers engaged with lesson plans, pedagogy, and assessment tools to support effective classroom implementation across the district and to build a Nipunn Ladakh.

Here are some glimpses of the training!

Behind every classroom transformed, every library built, and every child supported in the Indian Himalayan Region is the work of many dedicated women.

The women of Team 17000ft lead, build, teach, and innovate-- in some of the most challenging geographies.
Their work sustains our mission and strengthens the communities we work with.

Today, we celebrate their effort, leadership, and commitment.
