500 Genpact volunteers walked into the Aravalis. And for many, the first reaction was: “Is this really Gurgaon?”
There are places in Gurgaon that can make you forget you are in a city.
This was one of them.
Despite the rain and wet roads, 500 Genpact volunteers spent the day exploring, learning, planting, taking photographs and simply experiencing a side of Gurgaon that many had never seen before.
And the energy was remarkable.
With a commitment to plant almost 5,000 native saplings this monsoon. Genpact continues a partnership with iamgurgaon that will take our collective plantation journey to 67,000+ saplings since 2011.
A special thank you to Kunal Yadav, Councillor, Ward 23 for joining us and supporting the ecological restoration work on the ground.
And a big salute to our malis, supervisors, managers and the entire iamgurgaon team who came together to make the day possible.
Our ecological partners, The Rewilders helped volunteers understand and connect with the Aravali landscape.
Because restoration is not just about planting trees.
It is about bringing people closer to the landscape and creating experiences that make us care.

Far from Gurgaon. Not far from our hearts.

As Assam continues to face the devastating impact of floods, a call for support travelled to Gurgaon. And the response travelled back.

Hemkunt Foundation, already working on the ground, shared what was needed. iamgurgaon brought its community volunteers together to contribute to the effort.

Together, 1,384+ kg of essential ration items have been collected and dispatched to support families affected by the floods.

Because distance may separate communities,
but it doesn’t have to separate us from the spirit of community.

And then, there was all this green.

In August, the Seva Kutumb community spent a day at Aravali Nagar Van, planting, laughing, exploring and simply taking in the landscape around them.

After planting here last year, they returned this year to the adjoining patch, bringing the same spirit of togetherness and participation.

For a community built around people, connection and philanthropy, it was a chance to experience nature together and be part of a landscape that is slowly becoming richer in life and biodiversity.

From forgotten ruins to a living legacy.

Hidden in the heart of Gurgaon, the 130-year-old Ghata Bundh has been given a new life, not by erasing its past, but by preserving it with care.

Once a neglected British-era flood control barrage and caretaker's lodge, this historic site has been thoughtfully restored by iamgurgaon and its volunteers into a vibrant community space.

What makes this restoration truly remarkable is that while the structure has evolved, its purpose remains unchanged. Once built to serve and protect the community, Ghata Bundh continues to do just that, now as a welcoming public space that brings people together while preserving its historic identity.

The true achievement lies in the details. Every repair respects the original craftsmanship, materials, and character, making it almost impossible to tell where history ends and restoration begins.

This is how heritage should evolve, not through replacement, but through sensitive adaptation that keeps its story alive while serving today's community.

This work has been made possible with support of the Haryana Forest Department, Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG), NatWest Group, Genpact, Aramco and CRISIL, and the many citizens, communities, volunteers, and partners who made this restoration possible.

What happens when children step into a restored landscape and begin to see it differently?

For the students who joined us from The Shri Ram, Moulsari, The Shri Ram School, Aravali and DAV School .public.sch.sec14ggm , the day was about more than getting their hands into the soil.

They listened, questioned, observed and had remarkably mature conversations about something that often takes years to understand: that caring for nature is not a one-day activity, but a habit we build over time.

They also began to look at the landscape through its stories. One child chose to paint the stone crusher found at Aravali Nagar Van, a striking reminder of a landscape that has seen a very different past, and of how much can change when restoration begins.

Guided by , they learnt about the Aravalis, native species and why ecological restoration begins with understanding what belongs to a landscape.

For I Am Gurgaon, bringing children into this work is part of a much longer journey,restoring landscapes while creating opportunities for the next generation to experience, understand and care for the natural world around them.

And on this particular day, that learning came alive -through questions, new discoveries, muddy hands and plenty of joy.

Orange alert.

Waterlogged roads across Gurugram.

But while the city was watching the roads, something else was happening beside them.

Across the Golf Course Road corridor, Gurgaon–Faridabad Road, and the roads adjoining Aravali Nagar Van, Sikanderpur Pahadi, Aravali Forest and Aravali Creek-1, rainwater was being guided into restored landscapes instead of remaining on the streets.

These aren’t isolated green spaces. They’re part of a connected network of forests, creeks and catchments designed to slow, hold and absorb stormwater, helping protect the roads around them while recharging groundwater and supporting the native landscapes being restored across the city.

The monsoon isn’t over.
Neither is the work.

Every transformation begins with someone believing it’s possible.

What was once a barren stretch filled with construction debris and waste is today the 5.6 km Badshahpur Forest Corridor where thousands of people now walk, run, cycle and reconnect with nature every day.

This film traces that transformation from a neglected landscape to one of Gurugram’s most-loved public spaces. It also captures how materials found on site were thoughtfully reclaimed and reused to create the pathways, walls, seating and public spaces that people use today.

Supported by NTT DATA NTT DATA Asia Pacific in partnership with I Am Gurgaon, this restoration has also been shaped through the collaboration of GMDA Municipal Corporation Gurugram , The Haryana Forest Department, The Rewilders Rewilders, and many other organisations and individuals who have contributed to this shared vision.

Some lessons stay with you long after the school day ends.

At the Palam Vihar Forest Corridor, 224 students from six schools stepped out of their classrooms and into nature to spend the morning planting, learning, laughing, and getting their hands delightfully muddy.

After a plantation demonstration, the students worked alongside teachers, volunteers, RWA members, and the I Am Gurgaon team to plant 600 native saplings, each one contributing to a greener future for Gurgaon. An interactive environmental quiz sparked curiosity about biodiversity, native species, and the role each of us plays in caring for the environment.

Because the saplings won’t be the only things that have grown by then.
