A woman’s skill can open a door. A reliable pathway to work requires certification, documentation, market access, steady orders, and the confidence to claim her place in the economy.

In our latest article, we examine the systems that must accompany skilling. What does it truly take to turn women’s skills into lasting livelihoods? Read more on our LinkedIn page. Link in bio.

Football is already one of the most widely played sports across grassroots communities. Its potential grows when regular play is supported by coaching, competition and clear opportunities to progress.

Across our programmes, football is being used in ways that respond to the needs of each community, from strengthening participation in school to creating pathways for girls and young athletes in competitive sport.

On World Football Day, we recognise the role of structured grassroots football in expanding opportunities for young people.

In Haryana, the period between harvest and the next sowing cycle leaves farmers with little room for delay. For crop residue management practices to be adopted at scale, the right support must be available when the field demands it.

Through Project Bhoomi, we are strengthening a local ecosystem where farmers can access machinery, understand workable alternatives, and connect residue to productive use.

When these pathways become reliable, managing crop residue responsibly becomes a practical choice for more farmers, season after season.

This , we reflect on how access to opportunity within a household can shape a child’s wellbeing, education, and future.

At our Unnati Centre, we see this every day through the women who are learning, earning, and creating greater stability for their families, one skill at a time.

On International Day of Plant Health, conversations often centre around fertilisers, pesticides, and micronutrients. But in the field, plant health is shaped much earlier.

A farmer may already know the right practices. The challenge is whether sowing occurs on time, machinery is available when needed, and crop residue is properly managed before the next cycle begins.

When these processes are delayed, crops cycle under stress. Plant growth weakens, pest vulnerability increases, and farmers are pushed toward corrective interventions instead of preventive ones.

Across our work in Haryana and Rajasthan, we have seen that stronger plant health systems are built through better field coordination: timely sowing, access to machinery, and effective residue management.

Plant health often is not just about what is applied to the crop, but also about whether the system around the farmer works when it matters most.

This World Migratory Bird Day, the return of birds to Chichuraganpalli Lake in Hosur offers a meaningful reminder of what ecological restoration can make possible.

The 32.5-acre lake has been recently restored with efforts focused on improving water quality, restoring natural water flow, strengthening the lake ecosystem, and creating a safer, more sustainable public space for surrounding communities. As the waterbody slowly recovers, nature is beginning to respond.

The sight of migratory birds returning to the lake after years is more than a beautiful moment. It reflects the gradual rebuilding of an ecosystem, where water, biodiversity, and community life remain deeply connected.

3 kids from villages in Haryana and Punjab competed internationally this year. 126 made it to nationals. 478 to state level. All of them came up through the grassroots.
Behind those numbers is a complete sports ecosystem that Sports Lab has been building for almost 3 years now— 31 Centres of Excellence, 32 coaches, 15 sports across 60 schools. Not just sessions on a ground. An actual pathway from first exposure to a national podium.
They don’t always make the headlines. But they’re the ones World Athletics Day is for.

Happy World Athletics Day.

To see skills take shape is always rewarding. Especially for women, for whom skills are a pathway to confidence, independence, and opportunity.

Our recent collaboration with Skinvest Skincare brought together thoughtful design and craftsmanship.

As part of this collaboration, the women artisans at our Unnati Centre created headbands and wristbands for Skinvest Skincare's collection. From fabric sourcing and sampling to label development, production, and packaging, the project was supported end-to-end by the team.

For us, collaborations like these become platforms for learning, livelihoods, and long-term growth. They are also deeply affirming moments for our women artisans, where training and effort translate into finished products they can proudly call their own.

Most grassroots sports programs struggle to move beyond one-off events.

What’s harder, and far more necessary, is building systems that function consistently, day after day.

At the Sports Lab Centre of Excellence at Ultrex, a Student and Parent Engagement, along with Sports Kit Distribution, brought together athletes, parents, coaches, and partners within a shared working environment.

What stood out was not the format, but the quality of interaction.

Players were on court, engaging directly with leadership and partners. Parents were in active conversations with coaches, program teams, and stakeholders, discussing training, schedules, and long-term commitment.

Sports Lab is designed as a system where

– training environments remain consistent

– stakeholders stay connected

– athletes experience continuity, not interruptions

Centres of Excellence like Ultrex are built to ensure that talent identified at the grassroots is supported through structured pathways over time.

It was encouraging to see Hyundai Motor India Limited's leadership and partners engage directly with the program on the ground.

And as always, parents remain central to sustaining athlete journeys.

After harvest, crop residue is often treated as waste, though it holds value when systems exist to recover and redirect it.

Under Project Bhoomi in Kota, a systems-led approach is helping manage 16,000 tonnes of residue across 14,640 acres, supported by 46 agripreneurs building local access to solutions.

Through mechanisation, service networks, and pathways connecting residue to cattle feed, soil improvement, and biomass use, productive cycles are being strengthened.

At the heart of the effort is infrastructure that helps make residue management viable, practical, and scalable.

The Sports Lab is reshaping how sport is experienced at the grassroots.

With better access, regular training, and focused support, children are building stronger skills and confidence.

Coach Anju reflects on what this change looks like every day.
