Today is Menstrual Hygiene Day. Less than 20% of girls and women in India use sanitary pads. This data led to the initiation of Spot On & Off in 2020. Through my various awareness camps, I realized that we had to address the significant problem at hand - access to sanitary pads, the issue of sustainability and awareness."

I am excited to announce the launch of गरिमा (GARIMA), the Spot On & Off sanitary pad kit. GARIMA means dignity. Every girl and woman in India deserves the right to menstruate with dignity. These kits are being skilfully manufactured by visually impaired women at The Blind Relief Association, Delhi. After multiple attempts, we have successfully created this kit that not only promotes dignity but also provides employment opportunities for visually impaired women and addresses sustainability concerns.

We are proud to mention that we are recycling cotton fabric to create these kits, contributing to a more eco-friendly approach. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to The Blind Relief Association and USHA Silai for their unwavering support throughout this project. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of countless women across India.

On our 75th Independence day, we collaborated with CRY and the Delhi Autorickshaw Union to participate in their ‘Let’s talk about it! Period!’ campaign to spread awareness on menstrual health and hygiene.

We have donated 1500 packets of disposable sanitary pads for this campaign and couldn’t be prouder of the change that is being brought upon our country!

For the next three months, auto rickshaws plying across Delhi will be displaying awareness messages on menstrual health and hygiene. Also, the autorickshaw drivers will provide sanitary products free of cost to the women and girls in need.

A small cache of sanitary pads placed in autorickshaws will enhance access to this basic necessity and help women and adolescent girls manage MHH better.

Spot On & Off is honoured to help CRY with the campaign to demystify and normalise periods.

Spot On & Off celebrated International Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022 at Salaam Balak Trust with the KARM Fellows by performing a Nukkad Natak highlighting the misconceptions and taboos around menstruation. This March, we went back to Mewat to conduct another awareness workshop and distribution in the villages Sonkh and Nangli. There we distributed 500 reusable sanitary and 200 disposable sanitary pads.
