Meet Ramanathan, 67 years young, retired SVP, and chasing 100 marathons.
After nearly 40 years of leadership experience in an MNC, working across India and abroad, Ramanathan retired as a Senior Vice President in 2022.
Most people slow down after retirement, Ramanathan decided to start running.
Right from an early age, he was passionate about sports — running, volleyball, and cricket. Watching runners in the Olympic Games always inspired him. He dreamt of running marathons himself, but like many professionals, work commitments became a hurdle, and the dream had to wait.
After retirement, he finally gave himself that chance. What started as daily walks gradually turned into slow jogging. Slowly, confidence built up.
His commitment is remarkable:
As he lives in Velachery, Chennai, he usually has to wake up as early as 3:30 AM on marathon days & travels nearly one hour to reach the starting point & he has already completed 35 marathons (5K & 10K) so far.
And here's what makes his journey even more inspiring:
At 67 years old, Ramanathan took on a 200 KM Run/Walk Challenge for March with us at Pedals Power and successfully completed it on 27th March. 🎉
And he’s just getting started.
🎯 His Goal: Complete 100 marathon runs by the end of 2027
Ramanathan’s journey is a powerful reminder that:
✔️ It’s never too late to start
✔️ Discipline beats age
✔️ Consistency creates confidence
✔️ Retirement can be a new beginning
Retirement is not the finish line. Sometimes, it's where the real race begins.
Comment "Inspired" if Ramanathan's story inspired you. And if you know someone who needs to see this — tag them. Because sometimes, all it takes is one story to get started.
