Global Arcus: Dreaming the education dream in unison with Africa
Africa is called the Young Continent for a good reason. Its speedily growing youth population gives it an unprecedented opportunity to create a global footing for itself. In a world where even the most developed countries largely have an average age of +35, Africa’s average is only 20.
So how does it bring Africa right into the equation? Well, youth is our human capital. They build nations! Well-educated, well-trained youth can turn it around in a big way for Africa. It is sad then that the continent finds itself in a dubious position of contributing 100 million students to the world’s total student dropout pool (nearly 40%).
With close to 80 percent of primary-age population finding it difficult to read the written word and only about 9 percent of students undertaking tertiary education (against a global average of 37%), something is just not stacking up correctly, one supposes. A conservative estimate suggests that the continent needs more than 12 million teachers to create a plausible teacher-student ratio. This will take some doing!
At Global Arcus, we are aiming to arrest the slide and bring quality tertiary education to Africa. There is no denying that we cannot absorb the full flurry of African students opting for world-class overseas education but we have been able to make an enormous difference over the last decade.
It only helps that we are India’s top education consultancy and can thus work without any red tape or institutional hurdles to get deserving children to India via our Global Arcus Partial Scholarship Program. For us, the wide grin across the faces of African students studying in India is a reward which we seek and work fiercely towards.
For a big number of students caught in the stream of under-privilege or lack of genuine options, or an absence of knowhow regarding overseas education, we, at ‘Arcus’ just say, Consider It Done!
