𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻. 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆. 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲.

Every girl deserves opportunities to discover who she wants to become—and support to pursue those possibilities.

This 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹, the theme “End child marriage and invest in girls’ rights!” reminds us that protecting childhood, keeping girls in school and expanding their choices require everyday commitment.

At Safe Society, girls’ rights and aspirations remain at the heart of our work. Through our flagship programmes—𝗚𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗱𝘆, 𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗛 and the 𝗼𝘂𝘁-𝗼𝗳-𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 initiative under 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗶—and across our wider initiatives, we create space for girls to learn, participate and shape their own lives.

⚽ 𝟲𝟱% 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀’ 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in Gully Buddy—using sports to build confidence, teamwork and belonging while challenging gender barriers.

📚 𝗔 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝟮,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗼𝘂𝘁-𝗼𝗳-𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 through Maitri—supporting identification, enrolment and retention, because an interrupted education should still have a way forward.

🧵 𝟭,𝟱𝟬𝟬+ 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 through skilling and entrepreneurship development, including SAMARTH, primarily across Uttar Pradesh—opening pathways towards livelihoods and greater independence.

Behind every figure is a girl with hopes, abilities and choices that deserve to be taken seriously.

𝟐𝟏 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞.

A child walking into a welcoming classroom. A woman earning through the craft she has nurtured for years. A girl claiming her space on the playground. A farmer finding ways to protect a livelihood. A local voice being heard on the radio.

These are the everyday possibilities that give meaning to SAFE Society’s journey.

On 2 October 2005, inspired by the vision of Gram Swaraj, we began with a belief that people should have the dignity, opportunities and freedom to shape their own futures. Today, as we complete 𝟐𝟏 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, that belief continues to guide our work.

Through 𝐀𝐀𝐃𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐀, 𝐆𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐁𝐔𝐃𝐃𝐘, 𝐒𝐇𝐖𝐄𝐓, 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐇, 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐃𝐇𝐈 and 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝟗𝟎 𝐅𝐌, it takes different forms—learning, sport, livelihoods, enterprise, agriculture and community conversations. At the heart of each is the same commitment: to listen to people, recognise their strengths and work alongside them.

At the 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 (𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗔’𝟮𝟲), organised by 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗦𝗥 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗵𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗮, 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 – 𝗦𝗛𝗪𝗘𝗧, represented Safe Society as a panellist in the discussion, “𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗗𝗣 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀.”

Drawing from her experience of working closely with women artisans, Ms. Mishra spoke about a reality we witness every day: women already possess remarkable skills, knowledge and determination. What they often lack is not ability, but access—to fair wages, regular work, financial security, welfare entitlements and markets that value their contribution.

This is the gap that 𝗦𝗛𝗪𝗘𝗧 is working to bridge. By supporting women artisans through skill enhancement, doorstep livelihood opportunities, financial inclusion, social-security linkages and access to larger markets, SHWET is helping traditional craft become a pathway to greater income, dignity and agency.

Today, the initiative has engaged nearly 𝟭,𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘀, many of whom are earning through their skills while continuing to live and work within their communities.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀, 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲. It is about enabling a woman to have a stronger voice in her family, make decisions about her future and be recognised as an important contributor to the economy.

We thank 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗦𝗥 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 and 𝗠𝟯𝗠 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for creating a platform for this important conversation, and all the fellow panellists for bringing diverse and meaningful perspectives to the discussion.

At 2026, the Safe Society team had the opportunity to connect with leaders from aacross , and -bringing together civil society, government, philanthropy and the private sector in one space to listen, learn and think about what stronger collaboration can look like on the ground and exchange perspectives on partnerships, community-led development and creating sustainable impact.

It was particularly good to reconnect with Aman Bhaiya, Vice President & Head – Strategy & Growth, SBI Foundation, and Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, SVP - Global CSR & Director, HCLTech | HCLFoundation. As Safe Society continues to work closely with SBI Foundation and HCLFoundation, meeting our in a space like Charcha made the conversations even more meaningful.

We were also glad to connect with Kanta Singh Country Representative - India, UN Women, and Pradeep Singh, Head - Monitoring & Impact, CSR, HDFC Bank, and exchange perspectives on women'’ empowerment, partnerships, monitoring impact and community-led development.

REFRAME 2026 left us with new questions, valuable learning and meaningful connections.

Representing Safe Society Dr. Archana Trivedi and Vineeta Sinha participated in conversations exploring what it will truly take to create a future where women can enter, remain, lead and thrive in the workforce.

The discussions moved beyond employment numbers to the realities that shape women’s participation—the influence of gender norms, access to education and mobility, the role of families and workplaces, masculinity, representation in media, and the importance of investing in women-centred solutions.

For Safe Society, these conversations closely connect with our work alongside women artisans, entrepreneurs, young people and marginalised communities.

We return from REFRAME with fresh perspectives, stronger connections and renewed energy to continue building pathways where women are not merely included in conversations about the future—they are actively shaping it.

Safe Society was delighted to be part of REFRAME by Breakthrough on Day 1, joining conversations that challenge everyday stereotypes and encourage us to look at gender, safety and inclusion through a new lens.

A special moment captured with Breakthrough’s CEO at the centre, alongside Safe Society’s senior leadership — a beautiful reflection of collaboration, shared purpose and the power of women coming together to create change.

Tomorrow, Safe Society joins REFRAME 2026, a space bringing together voices committed to building a future where women can enter, remain, lead and thrive in the workforce.

Through our work with women artisans, young people and marginalised communities, we have seen that women’s participation is not only about creating livelihood opportunities. It is also about building confidence, strengthening agency, challenging restrictive gender norms and ensuring that every woman has the freedom to shape her own future.

We look forward to learning, exchanging ideas and building meaningful connections at REFRAME 2026.
