Sangath India

Sangath India Sangath is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation with primary focus areas in child development, adolescent and youth health, and mental health.

The major barriers to accessing health care include the emphasis on providing health care in medical settings, the lack of specialists and the high costs of medical care. Thus, in order to improve access to health care for children with developmental disabilities, adolescents and young people, or people with any form of mental disorder, our strategy has been to use relatively low cost human resour

ces or existing human resources, by empowering them with knowledge and providing them support from more specialized personnel. Examples of this work include:

• Training lay people to deliver psychosocial treatments for depression in adults attending primary health care centres (the Manas model) or for schizophrenia in community settings (the COPSI model).

• Training lay people or teachers to deliver a package of interventions for promoting the health of adolescents in schools (the SHAPE model).

• Integrating learning resource rooms and remedial education in mainstream schools with the aim of promoting inclusive education for children with learning disabilities.(the LEL & Prayas model)

• Training community maternal and child workers (anganwadi workers) to promote early child development among preschoolers.

• Training community out reach workers to promote the mental health of PLHIV and their caregivers (the ASHA model).

🌎Global impact in action!

We’re proud to share that Pattie Gonsalves, Director of the Youth Mental Health Group at Sangath, recently led a dynamic workshop at the 13th Non-Profit Sector Development Forum in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

📌In a session focused on co-designing youth leadership solutions with end users, Dr. Gonsalves engaged Saudi youth and professionals from NGOs and educational institutions — championing participatory approaches that place young people at the heart of change.

Look our for few moments from the workshop, where collaboration, creativity, and lived experience took center stage.

You can also catch a live stream of Dr Gonsalves’s plenary talk here: https://lnkd.in/dqKhFEGT

At Sangath, we believe that meaningful mental health and leadership solutions must be shaped with the communities they aim to serve.

Early Intervention: A Game Changer for Children with Autism.

The earlier we act, the stronger the foundations we build.

Early intervention isn't just about teaching skills-it's about creating opportunities. With timely, evidence-based support, children with autism can develop stronger communication, social engagement, and daily living skills that shape their future in meaningful ways.

What does the Sangath India Experts say on early intervention-

💡Empowering parents with the right tools from the start makes all the difference.

💬Personalized therapies and support systems help children thrive-while also strengthening families and building inclusive communities.

🤝🏻Early support fosters better parent-child relationships, improves long-term outcomes, and helps every child reach their unique potential.

Let's continue to advocate for early, accessible, and compassionate intervention-because every child deserves the chance to shine

This , we wanted to shift the spotlight to the real experts-the parents of children with Autism.

We asked the parents a simple yet powerful question: "What would you want other parents to know?"

Here's a glimpse of what they shared:
"Celebrate every milestone-big or small. Progress may look different, but it's still progress."
"Don't compare journeys. Each child is unique, and that's a beautiful thing."
"Find your village. Support, understanding, and community make all the difference."
These voices remind us that acceptance is more than awareness- It's listening. It's learning. It's standing together.

To all the parents: Your strength and love light the way. To everyone else: Let's keep building a world that embraces neurodiversity, with empathy and action.
