๐ŸŒ World Environment Day 2026 | Communities Leading Climate Action in Giridih, Jharkhand ๐ŸŒฑ

This World Environment Day, communities across Giridih came together to reaffirm a simple yet powerful message โ€“ environmental protection is a shared responsibility, and climate action begins at the grassroots.

At Gondlitand village under GP Bajto, Giridih Sadar Block, an awareness programme witnessed the participation of over 500 community members, 100 children, PRI representatives, school teachers, and social workers. Children showcased their creativity and environmental consciousness through a Sit & Draw Competition, while 550 fruit-bearing saplings were distributed to promote greener and more sustainable livelihoods. We were honoured by the presence of Ms. Vinita Kumari, Independent Director, GIC Re, who joined the community in celebrating the spirit of environmental stewardship.

Simultaneously, at Dhobana village under Udaipur GP, Gandey Block, another vibrant World Environment Day programme brought together more than 600 participants. Activities included a Seed Ball Exhibition, cultural performances, elocution and drawing competitions, and the distribution of 550 fruit saplings. The programme witnessed active participation from KVK scientists, BTM officials, Mukhiya, ward members, traditional leaders, teachers, and community members.

Together, these initiatives reached over 1,100 people, engaged hundreds of children and youth, and distributed 1,100 fruit saplings, strengthening the link between environmental conservation, nutrition, and sustainable rural development.

As climate challenges grow, such community-led efforts remind us that every planted tree, every aware citizen, and every engaged child contributes to building a greener, healthier, and more resilient future.

Every year brings a new slogan for a crisis that remains unchanged. We have built bigger cities & consumed more resources, creating an illusion of progress. But development without sustainability is simply a debt passed down to future generations.

At Abhivyakti Foundation, we witness the frontline of this reality every single day. Climate change isnโ€™t just about melting glaciers, it is intensely personal.

โ—พIt is a farmer looking at the sky, waiting for unpredictable rain.๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ
โ—พIt is a family migrating because the land can no longer sustain them.
โ—พIt is a child inheriting an uncertain tomorrow.๐ŸŒป

But there is immense hope in what we have forgotten. Indigenous communities protected forests. Villages conserved water. Sustainability was once a seamless way of life, not an annual awareness campaign. The blueprint for resilience already exists in nature if we are humble enough to follow it.

Whether we are working to strengthen community health, empower our youth, or restore our shared landscapes, our entire mission is rooted in bringing this balance back. We believe that everyday actions, driven by community wisdom and collective effort, are the only true climate solutions.

Future generations will ask: "๐˜ž๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐™œ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ, ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ?"

Stay tuned for today's different kinds of campaigns & insights as we mark this crucial day across our communities to revive the sustainability that already existed.

๐ŸŒ Celebrating 1 Year of the Saarthi Network! ๐ŸŒฑ

What a milestone! To mark the first anniversary of the Saarthi - Jharkhand Just Transition Network, we hosted "Jalvayu Akhada 2026"โ€”a powerful dialogue on climate adaptation and securing resilient livelihoods for our grassroots communities.

Across two parallel events in Deoghar and Giridih, we brought together a diverse coalition of farmers, SHG leaders, youth, and community workers to build a sustainable roadmap.

Together, we agreed on a strategic 3-Point Action Plan:
1๏ธโƒฃ Ecosystem Restoration (focusing on biomass and soil)
2๏ธโƒฃ Mainstreaming Indigenous Food Systems
3๏ธโƒฃ Soil & Water Conservation to combat desertification

A massive thank you to our incredible partners (Jago Foundation, Banwasi Vikas Ashram, Samvad, Pravah, Lok Prerna, Chetna Vikas) and the dedicated field colleagues who made this shared vision a reality! ๐Ÿ™Œ
We wrapped up both events with a collective tree-planting driveโ€”a beautiful symbol of our commitment to a greener, more equitable future.
The journey toward a climate-resilient Jharkhand continues.

Meet ๐€๐ง๐š๐ง๐ฒ๐š*, a young girl from Manjhladih village, Madhupur block, who once believed her dream of completing her education was over.

Forced to drop out in Class 9 due to her fatherโ€™s sudden illness and mounting family responsibilities, Ananya had to watch from the sidelines as her peers continued their studies. Her heart was heavy, and she had almost accepted that secondary education was a closed door.

Moved by her unwavering determination, our project team immediately stepped in. After persistent dialogue with the local high school's Headmaster and teachers, we helped secure her re-enrollment.

In the tribal, evergreen heartland of Jharkhand, our natural resources and our "๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ" are the foundation of our identity. But the conservation of these landscapes, and the sustainable livelihoods that depend on them would be impossible without the tireless hands of our workforce.

Without the quiet, relentless labor of the farmer, our food systems would collapse. From the fields to the infrastructure that connects us, every worker plays an indispensable role in our survival and collective progress.

This International Labour Day, we align with the global theme: โ€ A truly sustainable ecosystem isn't just about ecological balance; it is about creating workspaces where individuals are respected, mentally supported, and empowered to grow.

At Abhivyakti Foundation, we believe the highest tribute to labor is empowerment. Through our ๐’๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ-๐”๐ฉ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž, we are building capacity across both Green and Non-Green trades to ensure our youth have the tools to sustain themselves and their communities.

Today, we are especially proud to celebrate the dedication of our newly trained electricians who are quite literally lighting the way forward:
๐Ÿฅ‡ ๐Ÿ๐ฌ๐ญ - ๐€๐ฃ๐š๐ฒ ๐๐š๐ง๐๐ข๐ญ
๐Ÿฅˆ ๐Ÿ๐ง๐ - ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ง๐ง๐š ๐’๐จ๐ซ๐ž๐ง

Whether you are a farmer nurturing the soil, a tradesperson building the future, or a community leader protecting our commons, your labor matters.

Today, we pay tribute to the resilience, skill, and spirit of every worker. Let us continue to build a healthy, supportive, and sustainable working environment for all.

๐Ÿ… One-Day Khel-Mahotsav Successfully Organized under Khel Badlav Ka-Sports for Quality Education Program โšฝ

On 30 March 2026, Abhivyakti Foundation successfully organized a one-day Khel Mahotsav at the playground of +2 Gandey High School, Gandey, Giridih (Jharkhand) under the Khel Badlav Program, supported by M3M Foundation and SPJIMR Development of Corporate Citizenship DOCC. The initiative aims to promote sports talent among rural children and encourage their holistic development.

More than 300 students from over 10 schools of Gandey Block enthusiastically participated in the festival. Competitions such as Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, and Volleyball were organized. Teachers present at the event appreciated the initiative and highlighted that such programs not only encourage sports but also motivate children towards education while supporting their physical and mental well-being. They emphasized that such sports events help develop discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence among children.
Promoting sports within communities keeps children, especially girls, engaged in positive activities, which helps delay early marriage by encouraging education and building confidence. โšฝ

Regular participation in sports also reduces the risk of child labour, as children stay connected with schools, mentors, and structured development programs.
Sports create awareness about childrenโ€™s rights and open pathways for leadership, teamwork, and better livelihood opportunities for rural youth. ๐ŸŒฑ
At the end of the event, winning teams and participants were awarded prizes and medals. The program was successfully conducted with the dedicated efforts of Abhivyakti Foundation team members Mohammad Wasim, Sanjay, Vivek, Priyanka, Bhim Prasad Singh, Manju Kumari, Rajkishor Pandit, and Program Manager Mr. Partho Sarkar, along with other staff members.
Special thanks to the teachers of +2 Gandey High School and all participating schools for their valuable support in making this event a grand success. ๐ŸŒŸ
