Sharadutsav 2018 Silver Jubilee

Over the past few years, there has been an increasing trend among puja organizers in the city to come up with new ideas and themes that would leave behind minimum carbon footprint as well as spread the message of bringing down pollution and saving precious natural resources. Vaishali Cultural Association (VCA) at sector 4, Vaishali, Ghaziabad, UP is celebrating its 25th-year silver jubilee “Sharodutsav-2018” this year in an eco-friendly manner from Maha Panchami to Maha Dashami (14 -19, October 2018). In this endeavor, the organizing secretary Tagar Sengupta said that they aimed to blend the gaiety of the Durga Puja festival celebrations with a certain degree of awareness and responsibility for the environment. We decorate our idol and mandap with environment-friendly materials and by avoiding non-biodegradable materials like plastic, cement, and plaster of Paris and paints with toxic dyes that contain harmful and toxic chemicals. We decided to follow the ancient tradition of constructing the idols from mud, chaff, cloth, wood, paper, and other natural materials that are safer when immersed in water. VCA’s Durga Puja embraces the concept of ‘Sarbojonin’, a festival open to all, celebrates their Puja in the most traditional way. It has seen a meteoric rise with more than 20k footfalls visiting for the puja mandap. They efforted to enrich all aspects of the celebration including the Puja rituals and becomes one of the most famous pandals in NCR. Since its foundation, 1993, they renovated and maintained Prachin Kali Bari temple in Vaishali. They created an artificial water pool to carry out the ‘idol immersion’ practice without harming the water bodies and prevent disturbance of the ecological balance of our mother earth. President of the society Mr. S.K Jha Said “Keeping in mind, this year the 125th Anniversary of historic Chicago address of Swami Vivekananda, VCA, constructed and decorated their glorified pandal that resembles of Belur Math Ramakrishna Mission”. This year pandal is a replica of Belur Math but in the style of Bamboo temple of Manipur made by artists from Kolkata. By constructing this kind of pandal we are not only promoting the art of Bengal but also remembering our Swami Ji and his ideas too.” he added. Besides organizing pujas, they also render philanthropic and charitable works. “We believe in Manav Seva as Narayan Seva”. This year we organized medical check-up camp in association with Chandra Lakshmi Hospital Sector-4, Ghaziabad, Blood donation camp. We also donated 250 quilts and one roti making machine to the orphan and destitute children of parents suffering from leprosy at Divya Joyati Prem Sewa Mission of Hardwar” he informed. Residents will participate in a variety of events like on the spot painting competition, Talent hunt show for Kids, Sports and funs for ladies and children. Artists from Kolkata and Mumbai are invited to perform during puja. Celebrity singers Sreepartha and Deipannita from Sa Re Ga Ma of ZEE Bangla fame will be this year’s attractions on Ashtami !8th October.
