On June 14, 2024, PRAN (Preservation and Proliferation of Rural Resources and Nature) organized a significant workshop on the SRI (System of Root Intensification) method of natural farming at the Bodhgaya Regency Hotel in Bodhgaya. This event brought together participants from Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, aiming to enhance agricultural practices and promote sustainable farming techniques.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Honorable Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Shri Jeetan Ram Manjhi. He highlighted the importance of the SRI method in natural farming and assured support from his ministry for job creation and entrepreneurship. Other distinguished guests included MLA Jyoti Devi, PRAN's Chief Executive Anil Kumar Verma, ex-principal scientist Dr. S.K. Singh, and various agricultural and horticultural officers from Bihar.
Participants shared their experiences and discussed the benefits of the SRI method, including the cultivation of millets and the use of natural fertilizers, plant growth regulators, and insecticides. Delicious millet recipes like halwa, laddu, and thekua were also shared, adding a delightful touch to the event.
PRAN is dedicated to empowering rural communities by promoting food security, increasing income through sustainable farming practices, and supporting rural women through non-agricultural entrepreneurial activities.
