Happy Father’s Day to the guy who built the foundation I stand on today. 🏗️❤️
We talk a lot about the big, grand gestures, but the older I get, the more I realize that Dad’s greatest lessons were completely silent. They weren't sit-down lectures; they were just him, living his life, showing me how it's done.
Here are three things he taught me without ever saying a word:
1. Showing up matters more than showing off.
He never needed to be the loudest guy in the room, but he was always the most dependable. Whether it was a rainy Tuesday night game or helping me move couches up three flights of stairs, if he said he’d be there, he was.
2. Patience fixes almost everything.
From tangled fishing lines to my teenage drama, he always took a breath before reacting. He taught me that very few things are truly ruined—most just need a minute to cool down and a different perspective (and maybe a roll of duct tape).
3. Love is in the quiet details.
It’s the oil checks before a road trip. It’s the plate of food saved in the microwave. It’s the "text me when you get there." He taught me that love isn't just a feeling; it's a series of actions that make someone else's life a little easier.
To the dads, granddads, stepdads, and father figures who just keep showing up: thank you. We see everything you do, even when you think we aren't looking.
