On the occasion of "World Wetlands Day (2nd February)", AWRRO proudly joined hands with Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve to celebrate the theme “Wetlands & Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating the Cultural Heritage" at Eastern Range, Gamiri under Biswanath Wildlife divisions.
The event highlighted the vital role of wetlands in sustaining biodiversity and livelihoods, while honoring the wisdom of traditional communities in conserving these precious ecosystems. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting wetlands for a sustainable future. 💧🌏

Farewell to the Voice of Assam 💔

We're still trying to come to terms with the sudden passing of the legendary Assamese singer, Zubeen Garg, who left us far too soon at 52. His untimely death has sent shockwaves across the music industry and his fans worldwide.

Not only was Zubeen da a musical icon, but he was also a passionate advocate for animal rights and environmental conservation. He used his platform to speak out against animal cruelty and promote kindness and compassion. His selfless efforts to make the world a better place will always be remembered.

One notable instance that showcases his commitment to the environment was when he requested trees to be planted instead of traditional cultural gifts. This gesture speaks volumes about his character and dedication to a greener tomorrow.

Zubeen Garg's legacy extends far beyond his music. He was a true cultural icon who inspired generations with his soulful voice and timeless songs. His contribution to Assamese music and culture will never be forgotten.

Today, under the leadership of Mangaldai Wildlife Division DFO Pradipta Baruah sir, AWRRO conducted a special training program on snake identification and ethical rescue techniques for snakes and small mammals at Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve. The event was carried out exclusively for the park’s frontline staff. The program was inaugurated by the respected Divisional Forest Officer, Mangaldoi Forest Division. It was also focused to equip the front line staff with scientific and humane wildlife rescue skills. The Divisional Forest Officer's invaluable support inspired all those present including the dedicated forest staff and members of various NGOs.
