Day 16 ~ today we end our 16 days long activism against gender based violence, these 16 days have been a whirlpool of emotions interacting with communities, youth, stakeholders, government officials, teachers, faculty and children in Arunachal Pradesh. We learned, shared, heard one another, created safe spaces for people to be vulnerable, sang and danced our hearts out. We are going back with so much love and learning’s.
We complete three years of TAFF (Travelling art and film festival) and we feel deeply grateful for all our collaborators, funders, friends and family and everyone who has been a part of this journey, this wouldn’t have been possible without your support, good wishes, love and undoubted trust on us.
THANK YOU!

Day 15 ~ We are in the final leg of our 16 days of activism here in Itanagar. Today we interacted with the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society members, Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, One Stop Centre and of course children.
Adv. Kamin Danggen, a resource person from the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, shared valuable insights about the Child-Friendly Legal Services for Children and the Legal Services for Persons with Mental Illness and Intellectual Disabilities Scheme 2024.
With the children we tried to identify instances of gender based violence through activities. And taught the children our TAFF anthem song.
Our mural painting today was the dream catcher ~ One Generation One Chance to Heal 🪶

Day 13 ~ we had a lovely day spending time with teenagers from government secondary school in Yachuli understanding freedom, responsibilities and then promises. We taught the children our festivals’s anthem song, made posters on what freedom means to us and wrote our promises on the mural art.
Through these activities we discussed about GBV which is a human rights violation that undermines a person’s sense of self worth and self esteem. We unpacked emotions and they’re feelings, as witnessing violence can bring on strong emotions and shared the support services available.
With this we complete our second week of our festival. We head to Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh today and bring the festival to an end on the Human Rights Day (10th Dec)

Day 12 ~ Yachuli, our second last destination. We spent the day with the women folk to discuss about reproductive health rights and menstrual health. We discussed about stereotypes and taboos leading to violence for young girls and women. We shared about different menstrual products and informed choices.
Second session was around gender based violence at workplace and understanding POSH act 2013.
At Yachuli our mural art was in the government higher second school, we are excited to finish this tomorrow and see what promises the students come up with for the wall. As the theme revolves about Promises!

Day ~ 11, we spend our day interacting with the students of Dani Kunya government higher secondary school in Ziro.
We discussed about gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.
This affects women at all stages of their life, including education, employment, and opportunities.
Some women and girls, such as those in vulnerable situations or humanitarian crises, migrants, LGTBI, indigenous people or those with disabilities, face greater risk.
Violence against women continues to be an obstacle to achieving equality, development, peace as well as to the fulfillment of women and girls’ human rights.
These were all explained through group activities, games and workshops.
We also completed our mural art which was about ~ Love For All.
With this we complete Ziro and head for our second last destination Yachuli tomorrow.

Day ~ 10, we reached one of our favourite destination, Ziro! Today we interacted with Anganwadis, members of the ICDS department, One stop centre and local SHG members covering topics around gender identities, sexual orientations, gender expressions and sexual violence also subtlety touching upon the intersections of race, caste and class.
Later we played a card game around gender roles and identified through the game how we stereotype certain people based on their work, their bodies, their gender, their identities and how to put them into the box of gender binary leading to violence in so many different forms.
We also screened the film ~ Malwa Kushan which explores the attraction between two young teenage girls. The participants enjoyed the film and felt the need to screen the film for students in schools and colleges.
We also began our mural art on the beautiful building of the One Stop Centre.
Of course we danced and sang and celebrated the joy of being different and yet same in so many ways.

Day ~ 9 we had a beautiful start to the day with a song followed by a session on “Me and My Sexuality” which was led by . There were some very interesting real life scenarios that were shared by the participants which brought about a lot of clarity on sexual identities and the violence that they face.
Later interacted with the higher secondary students from the government school on Ģender binaries, restrictions imposed on women and girls and the subtle violence that they have to face on a day to day life. We closed the session by discussing with the boys on how we can make a safer place for women and girls ~ some very heart warming conversations followed. Music was the thread that we used today to connect all the discussions.
We were filled with joy to complete our 4th mural today on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities which was around creating spaces where Every Body has the Right to Freedom.

Day 8 ~ Today we traveled a distance of around 250 kms to Raga in Kamle district with our new batch of artivists to meet the wonderful women's association here for a workshop on gender based violence.
Less than 40 per cent of the women who experience violence seek help of any sort. In the majority of the places with available data on this issue, women who do seek help look to family and friends and very few seek support from formal institutions, such as police and health services.
Less than 10 per cent of those seeking help appealed to the police.
Later we screened two films followed by some thought provoking discussion.

Day 6 ~ continuing our festival in Seppa we interacted with the students from the government higher secondary school. We started with a puppet show which was around trust, consent, love, relationship and then early child marriage. The students throughly enjoyed the show!
Later we held an workshop around the impact of climate change on women and children. They came up with group presentations explaining solutions and the best group was awarded with a small gift.
Our mural art came out vibrant with the message ~ All spaces should be safe spaces.
With this we winded up our first week of the festival ~ second week starts tomorrow with a new batch of artivists and new destinations exploring more possibilities of dialogue, interactions, holding spaces and sharing.

Day 5 ~ Our third destination was Seppa in East Kameng District, here we interacted with several stakeholders (government and non-governmental)
By educating and empowering communities, we aim to break the cycle of violence and promote gender equality. This includes raising awareness about GBV, challenging discriminatory attitudes, and calling for improved laws and services that protect against gender-based violence.
Later in the evening we had a community film screening which was around care work and unpaid work ~ Hai Kaam Aahe. who is the filmmaker discussed the film and some very interesting discussions evolved around care work.
was happy to get a huge wall in front of the District Commissioners office to do her mural which was about ~ creating all spaces that feel safe for all.
