Our plantation efforts in June have yielded remarkable results across three key regions in Assam: Jorhat, Dhakuakhana, and Balipara. Here’s a detailed look at the impact we've made together:
In Jorhat, we planted an impressive 60,659 saplings over 70 hectares with the dedicated participation of 304 community members. This massive effort has significantly enhanced the green cover and biodiversity, utilizing indigenous species such as Jaati Bamboo, Azar, Arjun, and Lemon. The community’s commitment to environmental stewardship is truly inspiring.
In Dhakuakhana, our team, alongside 886 participants, successfully planted 19,236 saplings across 52 hectares. The plantation drive included a variety of native species, further enriching the local ecosystem. Notably, this initiative also included educational activities with local schools on World Environment Day, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among students and teachers.
In Balipara, despite logistical challenges, and difficult terrain we managed to plant 7,718 saplings across 34 hectares. With the involvement of 762 community members, we focused on increasing green cover and promoting biodiversity through the plantation of indigenous species. This initiative has not only improved the local environment but also provided potential economic benefits through fruit, timber, and other environmental resources.
These collective efforts highlight the power of community involvement and sustainable practices in fostering a greener future. Thank you to all our participants, fellows, community members and our partner Balipara Foundation who have contributed to this incredible journey. Let's continue to work together to protect and preserve our natural heritage.
