On the special occasion of World Folklore Day, 22nd August, the tribal communities of Cotton University came together at the KBR Auditorium to celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Assam. The event beautifully reflected the spirit of “Unity in Diversity”, bringing together communities from across the state and creating a platform for cultural exchange, mutual respect, and togetherness.

The occasion was graced by several well-known delegates and personalities from across Assam, making the celebration even more meaningful.

Representing the rich Tiwa cultural heritage, the students of our tiwa community participated with immense enthusiasm and pride, showcasing our rich heritage through traditional Tiwa dance, cultural exhibitions, and meaningful cultural exchanges. It was a proud moment to celebrate our Tiwa identity while standing together with our fellow tribal communities.

The entire event was filled with vibrant colours, traditions, music, and cultural expressions—truly reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Assam and the strength of unity among its diverse indigenous communities.

The Tiwa Students’ Forum, Cotton University extends our heartfelt gratitude to Bodo Literary Society – Cotton University, Cotton University Mising Students’ Study Circle, Cotton Karbi Unit, Dimasa Students’ Community, Guwahati – Cotton University Unit, and every other community that participated that made this event successful.

Thank you for your valuable cooperation, support, and contribution towards making this celebration a grand success. Together, we continue to keep our unique cultures, traditions, and identities alive while building a stronger bond of unity, respect, and brotherhood.

Had a productive meeting today with the ATSU Nagaon Committee District President, Dhemaji Committee District General Secretary, and Karbi Anglong District Committee General Secretary. We held important discussions regarding the Tiwa community, student welfare, and future initiatives for strengthening our collective vision.

Our objectives remain clear:
• To preserve, promote, and spread Tiwa culture, traditions, and language.
• To foster unity, cooperation, and brotherhood among Tiwa students.
• To support academic excellence and intellectual growth.
• To organize cultural, literary, and social activities.
• To represent student concerns before university authorities.
• To encourage leadership, confidence, and active participation among members.
• To promote inclusivity, equality, and mutual respect.

Together, we move forward with responsibility, unity, and dedication towards our community and future generations.

Today, on 6th April 2026, a historic milestone was achieved at Cotton University.
We are proud to announce the successful establishment of the Tiwa Students’ Forum (TSF) in the esteemed presence of DSW Sir, Dr. Gunendra Chandra Das.

With the formation of the forum, Piyush Bordoloi has taken on the responsibility as the General Secretary, while Mandeep Hukai has been appointed as the President of the newly formed union. Their leadership marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Tiwa student community.

The formation of the Tiwa Students’ Forum marks a significant step towards unity, cultural preservation, and empowerment of the Tiwa student community within the university. It reflects our shared vision to promote identity, inclusivity, and collective growth.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this initiative a success. This is not just the beginning of an organization, but the start of a strong and vibrant community.
