History Made on Mount Everest! 🏔️

A proud and inspiring moment for Sikkim as two of its daughters conquer the world’s highest peak.

Prabina Rai from West Sikkim and Gnersongmit Lepcha from North Sikkim successfully scaled Mount Everest on May 21, 2026, as part of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) All-Women Expedition.

The first summit was achieved at 6:52 AM, marking a historic milestone. According to ITBP, this expedition is the first-ever all-women team to summit Mount Everest (8,848 m) via the South Col Route.

Their achievement stands as a powerful testament to courage, determination, and the unstoppable spirit of Sikkimese women.

What a night for Sikkim! ⚽🔥

A packed Paljor Stadium, roaring fans, and pure football energy as Siniolchu FC lifted the SPL Season 4 trophy after a thrilling 3–2 clash against Singling Sporting Club. From every cheer in the stands to every moment on the pitch — this was football at its finest.

The presence of Hon’ble Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), and Hon’ble Chief Justice Justice Biswanath Somadder added to the grandeur of an already unforgettable evening.

This wasn’t just a final — it was a celebration of Sikkim’s passion, youth, and rising football culture. Nights like these show that football is not just a game here, it’s a lifestyle. 💛⚽

Gangtok, April 30: Heavy snowfall has severely affected road connectivity in East Sikkim, with the route leading to Nathula Pass blanketed under fresh snow as of today.

According to officials, the Jawaharlal Nehru (JN) Road remains accessible only up to Tsomgo Lake, beyond which movement has been restricted as a precautionary measure due to hazardous conditions.

Authorities have urged travellers and tourists to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected areas. Visitors are also advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and road status reports before planning their journey.

Efforts are underway to monitor the situation, while safety remains the top priority amid the ongoing weather conditions.
