The Old Silk Route, Zuluk has been awarded the ‘Most Scenic Route in India’ by the India Today Tourism Survey and Awards 2025. This recognition showcase Sikkim’s breathtaking landscapes, rich heritage, and commitment to sustainable tourism.

I extend my heartiest congratulations to the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim, and express gratitude to India Today for this honor. Special thanks to Hon’ble Minister Shri Tshering T. Bhutia and Principal Secretary Shri C.S. Rao (IFS) for representing Sikkim at the awards ceremony in New Delhi.

Daring Helicopter Rescue at 9,000 Feet: IAF and Army Save 10 SSB Personnel in Zuluk Accident

In a daring joint operation, IAF and Indian Army helicopters rescued 10 injured SSB personnel after their bus met with an accident near Zuluk, close to Gangtok. The injured were swiftly airlifted to military hospitals in Gangtok and Bengdubi.

Responding to the emergency at 11:15 AM, the IAF launched two Cheetah helicopters and a Mi-17V5 from Bagdogra airbase within an hour. Despite challenging weather and Zuluk's high-altitude helipad at 9,000 feet, the coordinated effort ensured the successful evacuation, showcasing remarkable teamwork and efficiency.
