Art of Living conducts Special Shravan Mass Rudra Puja in various parts of Sikkim

Gangtok, August 4: The Vedic Dharma Sansthan, Art of Living organisation, conducted Shravan Special Rudrapuja in various parts of Sikkim during the auspicious month of Shravan. The puja at various locations in the State was conducted in the special presence of Swami Advaiithaananda Ji of the Art of Living.
The Special pujas were conduced with deep reverence for the overall peace and well being of the people of Sikkim.

The Shravan Mass Special Rudra Puja was conducted from 25th to 29th July, beginning with Gyalshing, followed by Bermoik, Jorethang, Rhenock and Gangtok. The pujas were coordinated by local Art of Living teachers namely Mr Bhusan Rai, Ms Kalpana S***a, Mr Santosh Mothey, Mr Rajesh Gupta, and Ms Rita Mukhia, and had the active participation of people from all walks of life.

Swami Advaiithaananda in his brief discourses during the Pujas explained that Shravaan is the auspicious month when nature celebrates the essence of Shiva. He said that the impact of these pujas is on the whole environment and therefore the entire State of Sikkim has benefitted from them. He said that the pujas were conducted throughout the country under the guidance and blessings of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji.

Rudra Puja is an ancient practice followed in India from time immemorial. ‘Rudra’ means ‘Shiva - the Benevolent', 'the Destroyer of Evil'; 'Puja' means that which is born out of fullness. Rudrabhishek creates positive energy and removes negativity. This Puja is performed for inner peace and contentment. Nature rejoices wherever Rudrabishek is performed. Vaidic scriptures recommended Rudra Puja to get rid of the miseries, fulfillment of desires and for prosperity; astrologers also advise Rudra Puja emphatically to remove the malefic effects of planets.

The world is a play of energy, both negative and positive. When we pray to Lord Shiva – the Lord of transformation - the negative energy in the form of disease, depression, and unhappiness gets transformed into peace, prosperity and joy. Then peace is bestowed on all the three levels - the body, mind and soul.

The Rudra Puja is performed on a crystal 'linga'. Vibrations of mantra-chanting are absorbed by the offerings (curd, milk, ghee, honey and water) which are made in the Puja. They are offered to Lord Shiva with reverence, love and gratitude. Trained Pundits and Veda students from the Veda Agama Pathashala (Vaidic School) perform this special Puja. The chanting of these mantras is highly meditative and bestows immense peace.

In a soulful celebration, millions of devotees from 182 countries join Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to express gratitude and celebrate this Guru Purnima

10th July 2025: From South America to Australia, India, Africa, and across all continents, waves of devotion swept through thousands of cities as millions of devotees celebrated Guru Purnima—expressing their deep gratitude for the happiness and wisdom brought into their lives by the spiritual master, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Gurudev led the global Guru Purnima celebration from the Art of Living Ashram in Boone, North Carolina (United States), where millions of devotees joined both in person and via live webcast from 182 countries.

On the eve of Guru Purnima, Gurudev guided participants through a special, blissful full moon meditation. The celebrations continued with the timeless tradition of honoring the lineage of spiritual masters. Swami Vachanand ji of Shwaasa Yoga also joined the celebrations.

“The air is all around you; you don’t feel it unless you put your attention on it,” Gurudev shared. “Similarly, Guru Purnima is the day to feel the connection and gratitude—and that takes us forward. The Guru relieves us of all sorrows, joy wells up, knowledge dawns, and talents blossom. All these qualities simply blossom in the presence of the Guru.”

In India, Guru Purnima was celebrated at all the Art of Living chapters with special Guru Pooja ceremony, grand satsangs with everyone joining the global Art of Living family for the worldwide celebrations from Boone, US through webcast. Here's a snapshot of countrywide celebrations.

At The Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru, celebrations started with meditation and Dakshinamurthy Homa, a Vedic fire ritual invoking Lord Dakshinamoorthy, the embodiment of supreme wisdom, to bless seekers with knowledge and spiritual awakening, followed by a serene yet powerfully moving Samuhik Gurupuja with Smt Bhanumathi Narasimhan, the venerable sister of Gurudev, along with more than 150 Guru Puja pandits.

In New Delhi, devotees swayed and danced to the soul stirring bhajans of Sahil Jagtiani at the iconic Bharat Mandapam, with five thousand devotees filling the auditorium to capacity participating in the program.

In Sikkim, devotees of the Art of Living gathered in their respective centres to celebrate Guru Purnima through devotional songs and prayers.
