Kritika Sarda, granddaughter of Laxmi Narayan Sarda and daughter of Manoj Sarda from Singtam, has completed her PhD on the topic "*Ethnoarchaeological Investigations on the Lepchas of Sikkim, India*" from the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology at Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute (DCPRI), Pune. She submitted her thesis in February 2024 and successfully defended it on 30th September 2024.

As part of her research, Kritika delved into various aspects of the Lepcha community, including their subsistence patterns, the perishable material culture often absent from archaeological records, their settlement patterns, and their folklores. She also examined how these narratives shape the Lepchas’ daily lives and beliefs, offering a comprehensive insight into their heritage.

Kritika completed her schooling at East Point Senior Secondary School, Singtam, and her higher secondary education at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Singtam. She earned an English Honours degree from Loreto College, Darjeeling, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in English Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Aizawl. She later pursued an MA in Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology at DCPRI, Pune, where she also enrolled for her doctoral studies.
