The newly elected BKYT executive members held first meeting of the year 2026 on the date 3rd of June. The meeting was graced by Dr. Passang D Phempu, President of BKYT and all the members of BKYT. Meeting was held successfully and during the meeting President and members conduct an inspect in ground floor of Makhim, which was vacant from-few years back, during inspection it was found that it need to be renovate and can be use it for commercial purpose in future. Members also reach to Ridge park to inspect Bhutia House Tableau, which also need a renovation and can be use it for any purpose in days to come. Lastly meeting ended in the evening with a fruitful suggestions and active participation from the members.

མདོར་ན་ བྷུ་ཊི་ཡ་ སྐད་རབས་ ཡར་རྒྱས་ ཚོགས་པའི་ སྐབས་ ༦་པོའི་ འཐུས་མི་ ཙུ་ཀིས་ ལྷག་བསམ་ རྣམ་དག་ ཐོག་ལས་ ལོ་གསུམ་ བར་ལོ་ འབྲས་ལྗོངས་ ཨ་ཁུ་ ལྷོ་པའི་སྲོག་ཤིང་ སྐད་དང་ ཡི་གི་ དང་ རིགས་གཞུང་ ཙུ་ལོ་ དང་པོ་ འདྲ་བོ་ ཡར་རྒྱས་ ཆེ་དྲག་ བཏང་ མ་ཚུགས་ རུང་ ཞོན་ མ་ཤོར་ མ་ཉམས་པོ་ ཙམ་ ཞབས་ཞུ་ ཡོད་དོ།།

On Tuesday, 28 April 2026, a meeting was held at the Bhutia Language Development Association office between the 6th executive committee and the newly elected 7th executive committee.
Although the handover to the new committee had originally been directed by the Chief patron, Honorable Minister Ven. Sonam Lama, to take place on 30 January 2026, due to time constraints and practical circumstances, the financial accounts and handover covering 2023–2025 could not be completed at that time.
However, on 28 April 2026, the 6th executive committee formally presented and handed over to the new members a clear report on the achievements of the last three years, along with transparent details of the organization’s income and expenditures.

Major achievements from 2023–2025 included:

i. Introduction of Lho-yig (Bhutia subject) in private schools, where students are now benefiting from learning their own language.

ii. Establishment of a Lho-Yig MA in Bhutia at Khangchendzonga state university


iii. Development and launch of the Bhutia Language Development Association Website, an E-learning App, and a new LhoYig Font.

iv. Efforts were made to establish Lho-Yig (Bhutia Honors) at Mangshila Government College.

v. Free Lho Kay language classes were provided for interested learners living in and around Gangtok.
Summary

In short, although the 6th executive committee may not have been able to bring very large-scale progress in three years, they served sincerely and worked to preserve and promote the Bhutia people’s language, script, and culture, ensuring they did not decline or disappear.
