DISCOVER TEMI SET TO WELCOME NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL DELEGATES FOR PAIYU TOUR 2026!

Temi, South Sikkim, is all set to welcome distinguished delegates from Bhutan, Nepal, and Arunachal Pradesh, along with participants from different parts of India, for the upcoming PAIYU TOUR 2026, taking place on 21–23 November 2026.

With the theme “Bridging Communities Through Tourism” and the inspiring slogan “FROM VISITORS TO PARTICIPANTS,” Paiyu Tour aims to bring diverse communities together through their rich cultures, traditions, indigenous knowledge, local heritage, and shared experiences.

This unique initiative by Team Discover Temi seeks to promote Community-Based Tourism (CBT) by creating meaningful connections between people, empowering local communities, encouraging cultural exchange, and celebrating the beauty of our indigenous traditions.

From the enchanting Paiyu bloom of Temi to the warmth of village hospitality, this journey is more than tourism it is a celebration of unity, identity, and community-Based Tourism.

A Meaningful Meeting with the Hon’ble Tourism & Civil Aviation Minister

Today, Team Discover Temi had the privilege of meeting the Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation, Shri Tshering T. Bhutia Ji, and sharing our vision for promoting Community Based Tourism (CBT) in Sikkim.

The team briefed the Hon’ble Minister about the upcoming PAIYU TOUR 2026, scheduled for 21st, 22nd & 23rd November 2026 in Temi, South Sikkim, under the theme:

“BRIDGING COMMUNITIES THROUGH TOURISM”
From Visitors to Participants.

The Hon’ble Minister expressed his happiness and appreciation on seeing young people taking such a creative and community-oriented approach towards tourism promotion. During the interaction, he shared his own inspiring journey and encouraged the team to continue working with dedication, creativity and a strong connection with the grassroots.

What made the interaction especially meaningful was his reflection that the vision and journey of the young team reminded him of his own early journey—making the conversation not only motivational but deeply inspiring for everyone present.

The Hon’ble Minister also expressed his appreciation for the guidance and support being extended by Hon’ble HMLA Shri Bedu Singh Panth Ji, 14th Temi-Namphing Constituency, towards the young generation and their initiatives.

He appreciated the efforts to encourage youth to work towards the larger vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) for a “Sunawlo, Samriddha Ani Samartha Sikkim.”

For Team Discover Temi, this interaction is a great source of encouragement as we move forward with our mission of connecting villages, communities, cultures and people through tourism.

This November, the second edition of Paiyu Tour 2026 returns with a renewed vision—to showcase the beauty, culture, traditions, people and community-based tourism of Temi Namphing Constituency and present the true spirit of Sikkim to the world.
Under the theme “Discover Temi,” Paiyu Tour 2026 is more than a tourism event. It is an invitation to experience Sikkim through its communities—to walk through its villages, meet its people, taste its local flavours, discover its traditions and understand the deep connection between nature, culture and everyday life.
A Journey into Community-Based Tourism
At the heart of Paiyu Tour 2026 is community-based tourism, where local people are not simply part of the destination—they are the hosts, storytellers, custodians of culture and partners in tourism.
Temi Namphing offers an authentic opportunity to experience rural Sikkim beyond conventional tourist routes. Visitors can discover village life, local hospitality, traditional food, indigenous practices, agriculture, handicrafts, music, dance and the landscapes that have shaped generations of communities.
The Paiyu Tour seeks to encourage responsible tourism that creates opportunities for local communities while respecting the environment, traditions and cultural identity of the region.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh wrote;

“The Arunachal–Sikkim Cooperation under the Brother–Sister Constituency initiative is a beautiful example of how collaboration can strengthen rural livelihoods. Premium pineapples and lemons from Mebo, Arunachal Pradesh, have been flagged off to Sikkim Supreme for value addition and market expansion, creating stronger linkages for farmers while promoting sustainable agro-tourism and cultural exchange.

This initiative, supported by Discover Temi, reflects a shared vision of connecting communities, preserving local heritage, and creating sustainable economic opportunities.

Heartiest congratulations to Hon’ble MLAs Shri Oken Tayeng Ji and Shri Bedu Singh Panth Ji, along with everyone associated with this pioneering effort. May this partnership continue to grow as a model of inter-state cooperation and inclusive development”.

Today, Team Discover Temi had the proud opportunity to meet His Excellency Om Prakash Mathur ji, the Honorable Governor of Sikkim, at Lok Bhawan.

During the interaction, Team Discover Temi briefed His Excellency about the ongoing movement and vision to promote community-based tourism through community engagement, preservation of tradition, heritage, culture, sustainable rural development, and local participation.

The team highlighted various initiatives and flagship programs undertaken towards strengthening rural tourism and empowering local communities, including:

* Temi Innovation Festival
* International Agro Tourism Festival
* Monsoon Festival

The discussion also focused on how these initiatives are aligned with government missions and public participation campaigns such as:

All these efforts are being carried forward following the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang-Golay towards “Sunawlo, Samriddha ani Samartha Sikkim” under the esteemed guidance and support of the Hon’ble MLA of 14 Temi-Namphing Constituency.

Team Discover Temi also gave a detailed briefing about the First International Agro Tourism Festival 2026 with the theme:

“TRI BHUMI”

The festival aims to promote:

The team shared that the festival will serve as an international platform to showcase the rich traditions, organic agricultural practices, local cuisines, folk culture, indigenous heritage, homestay tourism, and rural hospitality of the Himalayan region.

The event is expected to strengthen cross-border friendship, cultural exchange, tourism networking, and community partnerships among neighboring regions and nations while creating livelihood opportunities for rural communities and youth participation in sustainable tourism development.

The Temi Innovation Festival 2026, held on 15th and 16th April at Temi, South Sikkim, marked a historic milestone as Sikkim’s first-ever innovation festival. Organized by the Discover Temi Team in collaboration with the Sikkim State Council of Science & Technology and the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Sikkim, the event brought together young innovators, students, educators, and visionaries on a dynamic platform.

The primary objective of the festival was to promote innovation, creativity, and awareness of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among the youth and the general public. The two-day event featured a wide range of activities including innovation displays, TIF Talks, and IPR awareness sessions, providing participants an opportunity to showcase their ideas and learn from experts.
The festival witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries, policymakers, and education leaders, whose encouragement inspired young minds to think creatively and pursue innovation-driven solutions. Schools and individual innovators actively participated, presenting impactful projects addressing real-world challenges.
More than just an event, the Temi Innovation Festival served as a powerful platform connecting grassroots creativity with scientific advancement, fostering a culture of innovation in the region. It successfully highlighted the potential of youth-led ideas and reinforced the importance of nurturing innovation for a sustainable and progressive future.The festival was in line with the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim,Prem Singh Tamang-Golay emphasizing youth empowerment, grassroots innovation, and building a self-reliant and progressive Sikkim.
