Taste of Tibet to Open New Branch at Tashi View Point! 🔥

One of Gangtok’s most loved food destinations, Taste of Tibet, is expanding with a new branch at Tashi View Point, opening on 31st August at The Dolkar Hotel.

Established in 1999, the restaurant’s main outlet at MG Marg has long been a local favourite for its comforting momo, thukpa, shyaphaley, gyathuk and other Tibetan classics.

The upcoming location will bring the familiar Taste of Tibet experience to one of Gangtok’s most scenic spots.

The Grassroots Playday League (GPD) is all set to return for its fifth season, bringing together young footballers for another exciting edition filled with competition, learning, teamwork and plenty of football. 🔥

Organised as an initiative of the Khelum Foundation for students of Grassroots Football School, Tashi Namgyal Academy (TNA), GPD Season 5 will kick off on 23 August 2026, with matches scheduled across 23, 28 and 29 August, and 4 September, before concluding with the Grand Finale on 6 September 2026.

This season will feature four age categories — U-8 Girls, U-7 Boys, U-9 Boys and U-11 Mixed — giving young players across different age groups an opportunity to experience organised competitive football in a fun and encouraging environment.

The U-8 and U-9 categories will compete in a 5-a-side format, while the U-11 category will play 7-a-side football, allowing participants to develop their skills, game awareness and teamwork through age-appropriate formats.

More than just a tournament, the Grassroots Playday League has been designed to create meaningful sporting experiences for children at an early stage of their football journey. Alongside the competition, the league focuses on learning, participation, sportsmanship and creating memorable moments on the pitch.

Now entering its fifth season, GPD continues to provide a platform where young footballers can play, compete, make friends and build their love for the game.

With the first matches beginning this weekend, the boots are ready, the teams are gearing up and GPD Season 5 is officially back. ⚽🔥

Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with SEED Cell, is pleased to announce that the “Udyami Bharosa Sammelan” is being organised on the occasion of World Entrepreneurs’ Day 2026.

The programme will be graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), as the Chief Guest, in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister for Commerce and Industries and Tourism & Civil Aviation Departments, Shri Tshering Thendup Bhutia.

Sikkim has witnessed significant growth in its entrepreneurial community in recent years, reflecting the State Government’s continued focus on empowering aspiring entrepreneurs, supporting local enterprises and creating sustainable livelihoods.

Guided by the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister to build a more self-reliant and entrepreneurial Sikkim, the State Government’s “One Family, One Entrepreneur” initiative has emerged as an important driving force in strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem across the State.

A key highlight of this year’s Sammelan will be the declaration of winners and prize money distribution for RISE, a month-long start-up talent hunt programme conducted under the aegis of the INSPIRE Project, recognising promising entrepreneurial ideas and emerging start-up talent.

The Udyami Bharosa Sammelan carries this vision forward — bringing together entrepreneurs, aspiring business owners and stakeholders to celebrate enterprise and reaffirm the Government of Sikkim’s commitment to building an enabling environment where local ideas, businesses and entrepreneurs can grow and prosper.

Gangtok, the countdown is officially on! Just 5 days remain until Nepali singer-songwriter Samir Shrestha takes the stage at After Darkk for a special Independence Day performance on Saturday, August 15. 🔥

Known for his heartfelt lyrics and melodies that have become favourites across Nepal and beyond, Samir is set to bring his music live to Gangtok alongside The Goodboyz, with the evening kicking off from 6 PM onwards.

With the show now just days away, tickets are available offline at Chopstick, Food Affair, Kelly’s Cafe, The Coffee Shop, Aro Cafe, Aro Francais and The Lazy Chef. Tickets can also be booked by sending a DM to the After Darkk page or online through the DASH website and apps.
