Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang-Golay and the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party for their victory in the recently concluded 11th Assembly Election and 18th Lok Sabha Election. NYKS Gangtok and All Sikkim Students Welfare Forum organizes Neighborhood Youth Parliament

Nehru Yuva Kendra Gangtok in collaboration with All Sikkim Students Welfare Forum on Monday organised Neighborhood Youth Parliament at Sikkim Government Law College, Gangtok situated at Lower Burtuk, Helipad. The programme was graced by Chief Guest Independent Director of Numaligarh Refinery Limited Shri. Sudeep Pradhan, guest of honors of the event were Smt. Pooja Sharma and Shri. Navraj Gurung Chairpersons of Sikkim Flim Promotion Board and Information Technology Department Government of Sikkim. The technical session of the event was attended by Shri. Yougan Tamang, Shri. Rewaj Chettri, Jigmee Gurung who spoke on different topics pertaining to the youth empowerment, social welfare, vocal for local and other issues. The event had presence of Additional Collector Gangtok, Shri. Abhijit Patil IAS, social worker Shri. Deepak Nepal, Principal of Sikkim Government Law College Gangtok Dr. Tshewang Dorjee Lama, Dean Shri. Dilip Pandey, DYO Gangtok Shri. Sourav Barman.

The event had a Mock Parliament session where students from different colleges of the capital had participated. This session was organised to showcase the procedure of the functioning of the Indian Parliament and other legislative process.

The event had participation of students of DIET Gangtok and other government colleges.

The All Sikkim Students Welfare Forum strongly condemns the attack on Former Speaker of Sikkim Legislative Assembly Shri. K N Rai and his team which took place on Saturday (01/03/2024) at Melli in Namchi District. We join the entire Sikkimese society in condemning the act as Sikkim is known for the existence of peace and prosperity but this kind of attacks on people in a democratically established society will bring fear amongst the common people and they will loose belief upon the democracy and the rule of law.

We applaud the Sikkim Police for arresting the accused persons but we further demand the Police authority to arrest the absconding accused. We humbly request the Police to kindly enlighten the Sikkimese people as what is the main cause of such attacks on broad daylight. We have faith upon the Police, Government and law enforcement agencies for a free, fair and swift investigation so that culprits will punished as per the law of the land and the justice is being served.

At this hour we extend our prayers for Shri. KN Rai for his speedy recovery.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred in Ranipool on Saturday evening, resulting in the injury of 18 people, the loss of three lives, and property damage. At this time, the All Sikkim Students Welfare Forum stands in solidarity with those affected by the accident, offering heartfelt prayers to the departed souls, condolences to the bereaved family members and prayers for swift recovery to those injured.

We remain hopeful that the investigation conducted by the competent authorities will uncover the true cause of the incident. We commend the swift actions taken by the Police, District authorities, and the Sikkim Government in responding to this emergency.
