As part of the concluding event of Wildlife Week celebrations on October 8, 2025, the GEER Foundation organized a seminar on Human–Wildlife Coexistence for college students. At the inaugural Mr. B. P. Pathi, Director of the GEER Foundation, launched a Wildlife Road Accident Survey which is designed to collect preliminary data on incidents of wild animals frequently crossing roads or being involved in road accidents. Addressing the students, the Director spoke about the history of wildlife conservation and highlighted Gujarat’s notable examples of human–wildlife coexistence. He further explained that many accidents involving wild animals—particularly reptiles, birds, or small mammals—often go unrecorded, resulting in a lack of data about accident-prone areas, affected species, and incident details. The purpose of this data collection initiative, he stated, is to better understand the causes of wildlife accidents and to design effective preventive measures that would support research, policy decisions, and wildlife conservation efforts.
