A Historic Moment for Compassion
Nepal has officially banned animal sacrifice at the Gadhimai Festival — once the largest animal sacrifice event in the world, where over 500,000 animals were killed in a single gathering.
This is a moment worth pausing to honor.
In many spiritual traditions, including our own, compassion is not a concept — it is a practice. It is the choice we make, again and again, to reduce suffering wherever we can.
This ban did not come easily. It came through years of peaceful advocacy, legal courage, and a growing global awakening to the truth that no deity of love and grace requires the blood of the innocent.
Today, those animals will live. And in their living, something in all of us is also freed.
May this decision inspire more hearts to turn toward kindness. May all beings be safe. May all beings be at peace.
