When the floods came to the Indo Pak border villages, this family watched their home disappear under water. What they had built over the years was gone in hours. When the water finally receded, there was nothing left to return to.

For months, they lived under a makeshift shelter made of tarpaulin sheets. This fragile space faced the sun, the rain, the cold, and every changing season. Every day meant adjusting. Every night meant hoping the shelter would hold.

They stayed because this land is home. Leaving would mean losing more than a house.

Today, that long waiting begins to end. The reconstruction of their home has started on the same ground where they once survived under sheets.

Brick by brick, dignity is returning. This is not just about construction. It is about safety, warmth, and the quiet relief of feeling protected again.

This is what rebuilding after floods looks like.

ResilienceStories

When the flood swept through Fazilka, the impact reverberated deeply for two brothers, both living with disabilities. They watched as their sole means of sustenance disappeared beneath the floodwaters and debris. Their fields, more than just land, symbolized survival, self-reliance, and dignity.

During such crises, calamities not only destroy crops but also hit the most vulnerable in profound ways.

Amid these critical moments, the Joti Foundation stepped in to rejuvenate the brothers' fields, providing them with a chance to flourish once again. The Foundation recognizes that revitalizing agriculture goes beyond ensuring food security; it's about reigniting resilience, hope, and livelihood opportunities even in the face of the toughest adversities to the most vulnerable of citizens.
