“Unlocking the Wisdom of Ages: A Canvas of Creativity for World Elderly Day”

Picture this: Artists, with lifetimes of experience, and young talents, brimming with enthusiasm, coming together to craft a visual symphony that celebrates the elderly.
Their canvases tell stories of resilience, love, and the wisdom that comes from a life well-lived.

In a harmonious partnership between the Daksh Foundation and the Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, we are redefining the art world’s norms.

Join us at Aashirwad drawing competition, a one-of-a-kind celebration of World Elderly Day that transcends generational boundaries.

I meet my father almost every day. When I am in town that is. I have to. I live about 500 meters away from my parents and we try and get the morning tea together.

He wakes up at five and I around seven, and by the time I go for tea, he is on his third cup. The daily ritual comprises him complaining about the state of the country, bad politicians, how religion is killing India, the fact that his phone is always giving him trouble, and how ‘the economist’ is not what it used to be. He then talks about how some of his uncles managed to bring the family to India after partition, and how he is indebted to one of them…followed by the fact that he will ‘one day’ stop eating meat, lekin kambakht swadi itna lagta hai…and how the kababs were better at Ina-Mulla-building in Dehradun when he was growing up…ab toh kachra milta hai. He also tries to listen in to the conversations my sister and I have about business and gives his predictable advice. His jokes seem new only to him.

The reason I meet him every day, and listen to his predictable monologues is because I can see myself there in the next few decades…less relevant to a world that we once thought we understood. I know we will all run our runs and get to points where our utility will diminish. I guess meeting him is like preparing for that time and being ok with it. My Dad lost his father young. There is a picture of my grandfather in his room…I’m sure he misses the presence of a father.

We will all be pictures someday…till then, let’s not miss the morning teas.

Baap ho toh phone kar lena, na ho toh yaad kar lena…mil sako toh mil aana…Khud baap ho toh bachcho ko yaad dila dena, ke unka Baap unhe yaad kar raha hai.

Happy Father’s Day, Dosto.
