Pasumai Ulagam, a non-profit organization working since 2002 in Erode and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nadu, continues its mission to uplift vulnerable communities through education, shelter, and care. In Erode, our work focuses on women and children in urban slums, while in Tenkasi, we provide comprehensive care for orphaned and at-risk children through our two residential care facilities — Mollies Girls Home and Thamos Boys Home.

Established in 2003 with just three children, our homes have grown to accommodate 103 children today, aged between 6 to 23 years, offering them a safe and structured environment. Educational Support -At Pasumai Ulagam, we believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and building a secure future for every child in our care. Each year, we allocate 8 to 12 lakhs specifically for the educational support of the children residing at Mollies Girls Home and Thamos Boys Home in Tenkasi District. Our children attend nearby government and private schools, and after school hours, they receive free tuition support to strengthen their academic performance. We also conduct special training in English and Mathematics to help children build strong foundational skills.

In addition to academics, we ensure that children have access to games and recreational activities to promote physical and mental well-being. For adolescents, we offer vocational training programs such as basic computer education, tailoring, and beautician courses, equipping them with practical skills for future employment. For those completing school, we provide full support to pursue higher education in fields such as Nursing, Polytechnic, Engineering, Physiotherapy, ITI, and Arts & Science, including fees, materials, transportation, and hostel costs. Some students are also being mentored to prepare for competitive exams like UPSC, aiming for careers in public service.

Through this well-rounded educational support system, Pasumai Ulagam is committed to nurturing confident, skilled, and independent young individuals ready to face the world.

Impact on Beneficiaries:
Before the program, most participants had minimal or no computer knowledge and lacked exposure to life skills. Many came from economically disadvantaged families, and after completing their education, were forced to take up daily wage jobs such as agricultural labor, driving, or working in garment factories. This project provided a life-changing opportunity for these youth to break the cycle of poverty, develop meaningful career paths, and contribute more effectively to their families and communities

Target Group: Youth aged 18–24 Years
Pasumai Ulagam implemented a one-year skill development initiative aimed at empowering rural and urban poor youth aged 18 to 24 years, by equipping them with IT-ITeS training and essential life skills. The project was designed to address the growing gap in digital literacy and personal development among young people who often miss out on such opportunities during their school years.

Over the project period, we conducted 4 training batches, each lasting 3 months, benefitting a total of 120 youth. Each batch received hands-on computer training delivered by well-qualified trainers. Training focused on practical skills including MS Office, internet usage, digital communication, and job readiness — such as how to prepare and email resumes, attend virtual interviews, and navigate online job platforms
