The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of Malda Medical College & Hospital expresses its deepest shock, anguish, and outrage at the appalling incident of unprovoked violence that unfolded today, 9th May 2025, against our resident doctors and students while they were selflessly organizing a blood donation camp on the college campus.
It is particularly disturbing that this act of aggression is allegedly linked to certain unruly individuals reportedly associated with the ruling political party. Such an incident is not merely a breach of campus discipline but a politically motivated attack on a humanitarian initiative and the sacred space of a medical institution.
At a time when the country is grappling with widespread distress and uncertainty, this barbaric attempt to disrupt a life-saving cause is nothing short of an assault on humanity. It stands as a direct insult to the medical fraternity and to the core values of compassion, service, and solidarity that define our profession.
The RDA strongly condemns this heinous and shameful act in the strongest possible terms and demands immediate and strict action. Every individual involved in this criminal conspiracy must be identified, apprehended, and punished under appropriate legal provisions to set a stern and exemplary precedent.
We urgently call upon the college authority, district administration, and state government to ensure the safety, security, and dignity of all doctors, students, and healthcare workers within the institution. Acts of violence against medical professionals cannot, and must not, be tolerated or normalized.
The Resident Doctors’ Association of Malda Medical College stands in absolute solidarity with our assaulted colleagues and the entire medical community, and we assure our unwavering support in their ongoing fight for justice.
