Review Visit – Azim Premji Livelihood Project

A season of learning, hard work, and encouraging results ! It was inspiring to see smallholder farmers improve their incomes through vegetable cultivation, demonstrating that with the right support, even limited landholdings can generate meaningful livelihoods.

As we prepare for the next season, farmers have been provided seeds for organic ginger, turmeric, vegetables, and pulses, strengthening the journey towards sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.

What stands out most is the immense potential of organic farming among small and marginal farmers. These farmers often have lower chemical input dependency and are well-positioned to adopt natural and organic practices. What they need is not just inputs, but continuous guidance, access to knowledge, collective aggregation, and strong market linkages.

If we truly want organic agriculture to become mainstream again, our focus must shift from large commercial farms to the millions of small farmers who form the backbone of rural India. With the right ecosystem of support, they can produce healthy food, improve soil health, protect biodiversity, and build resilient livelihoods.

The future of organic farming lies in empowering small farmers and ensuring that they receive fair value for their produce.

🌱 Preparing the Ground for a Sustainable Future 🌱

The journey towards resilient livelihoods begins in the field. Our women farmers are preparing their land, applying organic fertilizers, and sowing turmeric and ginger with hope, determination, and a commitment to natural farming.

These efforts are not only improving soil health and reducing dependence on chemical inputs but are also creating opportunities for sustainable incomes and climate-resilient agriculture.

We are supporting the transition of rural women farmers towards healthier farms, stronger communities, and a more self-reliant future. 💚🌾

From healthy soil to sustainable livelihoods—every seed sown today is an investment in tomorrow.

Sometimes, the simplest technologies create the biggest impact.
The use of low-cost fibre sheet lining in the damaged earthen dam at Ramsagra village, Rajasthan is one such example—practical, affordable, and highly effective. What makes it truly special is seeing such innovations reach even the most remote and far-flung communities.
It’s overwhelming in the best way—to witness solutions that are not only technically sound but also accessible and scalable for villages. When low-cost technologies travel to these regions, they don’t just solve problems—they build resilience, confidence, and hope.
Now, hoping to see its full potential unfold after the monsoons—when every drop stored will truly tell its story. 💧🌱 🏵️
